First & foremost...hello again my friends...been missing you fellars a good bit & figured I’d jump back in the game tonight on the eve of what could & very well may be the breaking point of a certain Phillipino’s career of invincibility.
That being said...I’m actually super excited about this bout.
Not because I’m a Pac-Fan...
Not because I’m a Margarito hater...
Okay...maybe I’m a Margarito hater...& maybe...just maybe I’ll pull for Pacquiao a little bit...
Not so much cup, tug, & pull...but root for the guy this go round...
Not so much “root” as in the rod...but hope the guy knocks his opponent the EF out!!!
Anywho...mainly because I think that this fight’s gonna be the highlight of our year & because I’m trying to get back into the swing of online boxing, banter, comentating. & maybe even a little pissin’ & moanin! At a staggering price of $54.99...this fight better go off with a blast & someone better get hammered the “EF” out tonight.
Although good ole’ Manny Pacquiao (51 wins, 38 knockouts, 3 losses, & 2 draws...INSANE!!!) continues to defy the odds by moving up to a catch weight of 150lbs & his eight weight class, & rather convincingly I might add, this could be the risks of all risks for the Filipino superstar.
While everyone’s busy counting Margarito (38 wins, 27 knockouts, & 6 losses) out based on his performance against Sugar Shane Mosley last year & the distractions of the fans pissing & moaning over this fight even materializing...they’re missing one key element...legacy.
If I’m not mistaken, provided he beats Margarito tonight, Manny will be the first Filipino boxer to accomplish the weight class jumps (if you can actually consider them that) & wearing the strap of Light Middle champs. Here again...another sore point for us fight fans...that this fight is for the vacant WBC Super-Welterweight (...or Light Middleweight depending on how you see it) Title. I think that the guy might possibly have a shot of dethroning Pacquiao.
I hope not...but hey! This is boxing & anything can & will happen on Any Given Sunday...the thing is...this aint Sunday & Manny has a nact for defying the odds...constantly.
While I’m always laughably fond of the opposing fighter’s stance on Manny, that it’s a Mexico vs. Philippines gig & it’s for fan & country, this one’s all about redemption for Margarito. I don’t know if that’s gonna work out for him too well...fans are still sick to their stomachs over the Cotto beating & the possibility of illegal hand wraps having taken their toll on the former people’s champion...let’s face it...Pac gained all kinds of respect for dispatching Cotto...hell I even loved that bout...but Margarito will never NEVER get outta that shadow.
When it all comes down to it..win, lose, or draw Margarito may never get redemption...but as I said earlier...this is boxing & anything can happen. As far as I’m concerned...I’ve never liked Margarito & probably never will...no matter what.
Oddly enough though...I’m giving him a shot...even thought many people are saying that he’s shot himself.
Why? Why on earth would I give him a chance in hell?
Personally...I think that Manny’s passed his weight on the grand scale of things. There’s only so much movin’ & losin’ that a fighter can do before it affects his game. I hope that I’m wrong...because I’d love to see Margarito dispatched in the same fashion or better as Mosley did & to be honest...it’s really hard to pick against Manny just on him being Manny...then again...if Margarito could land a shot that disabled the part of Manny’s brain that has him convinced he’s a singing star...go Antonio!!!! Heh heh heh.
As I was saying...I think Tony’s got too much weight, too much height, & too much reach for Manny...even though I’ve made this statement before in conjunction with a Pacquiao opponent...I just feel like there’s a bit too much against the Congressman.
We shall see.
Just wanted to chime in on this one...can’t wait.
