Mosley did the job...
Quicker
with a Ko
Didn't weight drain marg with a catch weight
Marg was on a winning streak
Marg hadn't had a severe beating at some point in his last 5 fights

This fight should have been stopped around the 9th round anyway
The result should have been a TKO
So Margarito wasn't weigh-drained at 147 but he was at 150?
Margarito was only on a 3 fight winning streak, probably aided by having concrete hands
Margarito had shipped plenty of punishment in the fights with Williams, Cintron and Cotto prior to the Mosley fight.
If i remember correctly, Mosley got a lot of kudos for what he did to Margarito. So should Pacquiao.

A very good reply. The 1st good reply i've had in a while. Nice one.
First off I'd say shoulda woulda coulda. Pac still didn't put him down and out.
A good point about the weight but you do have to take into account there was a good couple of years gap between mosley and pac. If Marg was comfortable at 147 the fight would have been made at 147. (although that would have scuppered pacs 8 weight division fantasy) the fact that marg went up to the 154 divison says to me that 154 was a comfortable strong weight for him.
Yeah he'd taken punishment in those fights but he'd taken that punishment plus a hammering off mosley before pac got to him.
Yes shane did get loads of props, but IMO it was different circumstances and he put marg down. No one had dominated Marg quite like that before.

Fair comments. He did what i expected him to do, and what most other people expected him to do. Mosley's performance stunned me more, but i still think Pacquiao deserves his credit. I haven't seen too many knowledgeable people going over the top with it.
I agree about Margarito' weight, but he's moved up to 154 and then moved back down to 147 numerous times in his career so i'd imagine he's comfortable with it, although this time round, he had been inactive due to suspension, and he's getting older. Suppose i can see the argument both ways![]()

Now I think the amount of damage Pac did to Margarito was very impressive, I certainly have never seen him so beat up, the dude landed a stay at the hospital and had surgery after the fight....that's a serious ass whuppin right there.
However I have been thinking "How would Floyd have handled Margarito?"
I figure he WOULD completely out class Margarito, but not send him to the hospital....I also wonder how Floyd would react to those body shots. As for the fight itself I think it would compare to the way he fought Baldomir.
Array
Agree with this. I don't think Floyd would have put him in hospital, but then I think Floyd would have looked way more classy. I was impressed by Pac's offense, but his defence looked full of holes.
I also don't think Floyd would have got hit by those body shots.
As impressive as he was in the fight, from watching the fight I now favour Mayweather more than I did before. So in my eyes PAC has gone down in my estimations.
I want to see Pac

Bloody phone!
I want to see PAC go up through more weights now as I think there is a better chance of that actually happening.

I agree with you he didn't do any better with margarito than Mosley or Williams he didn't do any better with Cotto than Margarito yet gets crazy praise for it. Thing is everybody expected Cotto to beat Margarito and Margarito demolished and because of this everybody expected Margarito to demolish Mosley yet Mosley demolished him in 9 rounds. Now everybody expected Pacquiao to beat margarito easy and he did but now there talking as though he has slayed King Kong and facts are he didn't even do it as easy as Mosley or Williams Pacquiao was even badly hurt in the 6th had their been more time left in the round who knows and after that he went on back foot for about 2 rounds yes he is P4P#1 but come on guys lets stop making the wins bigger than they were after the event.

Yeah but that everybody wasn't you now was it?http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingfor...-who-wins.html
20/20 hindsight analysis. Anyone can do it.

Yes i do owe him and yes i did think margarito could pull off the upset but at same time just because Pac did win doesn't mean he deserves all this crazy praise was it a good win? yes but does it deserve all this over the top stuff people saying he is greatest of all time?? no
Array
The regulars here on this board haven't said anything of that sort about greatest of all time, including the Filipino members. They just appreciate his fights. Even publications like Ring didn't say that about goat status. They just appreciate the guy's talent, because he is a rare talent and his time in the ring is close to coming to an end. Plus, praise will be given to the winner when they put on a good show.
Floyd put on a great show against Mosley, he got praise for it too after the fight.

The only person i've heard say he's the best of all time was the guys on HBO after the fight, and they were saying "one" of the greatest... And based on their reasoning, it was fair for them to say that...
But yeah, in perspective Pac wasn't unbelievable in that fight.. he had his weaknesses.. He didn't utterly destory Margarito and knock him out...
People just appreciate that someone has come along with the physical gift that Pac has to travel so far up the weights and still be competitive. Also to have come from being a one handed somewhat wild fighter, to honing his skills and become a very effective and intelligent boxer...
People do rave about Pac more than most boxers out there, and if that is the nuthugging, loving, extreme fanboyism that you speak of, then I dunno what to say...
People give Pac that extra credit and enthusiasm because who else is really as exciting for boxing right now
Mayweather is the same sort of person who incites a tonne of extreme followers (and with that, haters), but he has been doing a lot more talking than he has fighting over the past few years..
Really, at a time when few other divisions really have these characters and achievers to get excited about, what's wrong with people getting behind a fighter who comes along maybe twice a decade? He just generates excitement for boxing fans in general....
Some people just aren't impressed with him or his performances and achievements and that's fine... But it's not like all the people who are fans with him can't list out a million reasons why they are more enthusiatic about him than other fighters... No need to hate them for that..
