He hasn't attempted Cubans or African Americans at all, at least not anyone we know. Picking David Diaz over Joel Casamayor and Nate Campbell (the real Champions) was just shameful. His fanbase excuse doesn't even work there. Both clearly trump David fukkin Diaz.
It must really be hard on you that another ES-A joined the victim list.
Must be hard on you that a juiced up Flipa is all you got. Oh the list of fails is long. Nonito Donaire is a sham. Rey Bautista transformed into Rey Bumtista. Marvin Sonsona turned out to be a joke. Z Gorress can't even spell his first name any more. Bernabe Concepcion is crap. Donnie Nietes is overrated. Aj Banal has no heart. And Ciso Morales sure did live up to his name Kid Terrible when he crashed and burned in 2 minutes. Damn. It really does suck when Rodel Mayol is the 2nd best fighter ya'll got.

Good job for Bernard, this is on the front page of ESPN and the most commented article now.

This was racist, but I don't expect anything less from Bernard Hopkins. "I'll never lose to a white boy"? Why not just say I will never lose to Joe Calzaghe? Hopkins is a bit simple in the head sometimes and this is another example of him running his mouth in that kind of way. He should know better by now.

Black, but not black-black, American Black, but from the Streets black, American Streets not African Streets, definately not Wesley Snipes black, Floyd Mayweather black. In Fact the Street Floyd Mayweather lives on black.

Ah I see what he means now. He thinks Floyd could beat Manny.

Why didnt he just say that?

Because Hopkins was trying to make money, not friends.... Can you Imagine how big a fight between one of the Klitchkos vs Mike Tyson would have been if Mike were still a game fighter? I know boxing fans will see two good fighters, but America will see a big Clark Kent White Boy vs a thuggish, bully, "black guy". (saying black for respect for the forum). But if it were an american white vs a European it would have been chants for "USA" all night. I mean several times Lampley on the air has called American Born citizens with Mexican heritage.. Mexican.

A lot of people, like Hopkins still believes in the Holmes-Cooney theory of a serious contender non-black vs a black will generate more money. That's why floyd was saying if he were white he'd make more money. Which is true. Because there are more whites in America, America was built on racism, and is held up by that same diseased backbone. So unless one grew up outside of the states I don't see why anyone thinks what Hopkins is doing is any different than HBO and promoters constantly putting the Mexican Fighters against Puerto Rican fighters. Or True Mexican fighters (the ones that only speak spanish) vs the American born English Speaking Mexican fighters. You see why so many people jumped on PACMAN as the MEXICAN ASSASSIN. The same way Roger Mayweather made his name because he was beating the Mexican fighters back then.

Anyone trying to deny that race plays into marketing certain fights, I admire and envy your naivety, but I grew up in the states and racism is clear and routine as breathing.

I think you are mistaking prejudice with racism.

Everyone is prejudice, meaning they like one thing or their own race better than another.

Racism is hatred and really not as common.

But surely the cross town rivalry isn't prominent in boxing, so it's cross race or nationality for promoting fights.

    titleist,

i'm not saying there will no longer be any pinoy boxers. what i'm saying is philippine boxing will go back once again into total obscurity. aside from pacquiao, the only other good fighter you have is nonito donaire and the very overrated donnie nietes, who only fights bums. since he got a gift decision over manuel vargas, who has this guy fought? exactly!

all the other "next pacquiao's" have been total busts. so tell me, what current boxers are going to step up and become the next world champions? that's why i wrote for you to enjoy pacman while you still have him cause when he's gone, philippine boxing practically disappears!

What's the point in bringing up the country?
Pacquiao is for the boxing fans to enjoy, not just Filipinos. It may take some time before someone of Pacman's caliber comes along and it may not even be in our lifetime.

It's comments like that, the reason that people want to see him lose.
