If Sky had picked up Froch he'd be a household name now IMO. Haye wasn't know too recognizable to the general public when he was on Setanta, and when he signed to fight Wlad first time there wasn't a great deal of coverage in the media leading up to the fight (not that I can remember anyway). But when Setanta collapsed and Sky picked up the Valuev fight, they hyped it up beyond belief so almost everybody knew that he was fighting this Goliath. Sky do a great job selling a fight, and since Froch has never been on the network he's never enjoyed the exposure and the massive hype that the fights would generate.

Its absurd that someone with such a fan friendly style who'll fight the best has never had more exposure. It also doesn't help that Hennessey can't sell a fighter for shit, and Primetime don't seem to be doing anything to try and draw in the general public. Hopefully now Adam Smith's been promoted to Head of Boxing on Sky he'll get Froch on after the Abraham fight. He said he'd love to get him on, though maybe I'm just naively hoping he'll get the long overdue exposure he deserves.

Fighters have to put themselves out there and promote themselves too though IMO. If you don't, you'll stick to relative obscurity no doubt. One thing that doesn't help Froch, is that he doesn't actually like boxing, in terms of watching it and being involved. He's actually admitted that on our radio show too. He just fades into the background and only appears when its training time. WRONG IDEA.

Yeah I suppose Froch doesn't do a particularly good job of hyping himself. I just think that he'd have benefited from being on Sky and the work of their hype machine. But you're right he could have done more to promote himself through different ways, like appearing on shows, sitting ringside on big domestic fights etc. I didn't know that about him not actively watching boxing or taking part in anything related to it outside his own fights, that's a massive oversight as that would keep him in the public eye even when he didn't have a fight scheduled.

You often see Haye or Khan popping up on chat shows or game shows, which makes the non-boxing fan more aware of them and more likely to buy/watch their fight. It wouldn't have hurt Froch to try something similar. Come to think of it he's probably more to blame then I'd previously thought

Think we can get this in Cyprus no problem.

This is a definate late entry for fight of the year.

Can see this being a real war from the off
