I thought there were big penalty clauses in the contracts for anyone who tried to pull out?
None of these guys seem to be paying any attention to that.

I don't see it as a failure at all. It does put a damper on the trophy's importance, but it's realistic.
To me the match making is realistic and shows no fighter would be undefeated if matched properly. I don't see why injuries make for a failure. Only questionable issue is Dirrell. But still waiting for confirmation that AA quit right?
Yes I remember in the first Fight Camp episode they said it would be career suicide for any boxers that chose to pull out without good reason due to the penalty sanctions.
Unless he's injured, in which case he just needs to give Dr. Shaw-Hi a call and he'll be ready to go in 6 months![]()
I suppose in a sense the tournament has been a failure. Maybe it was too much of an ask to expect everything to run smoothly and for all boxers to stay in the competition and avoid injury when matched with the best in the division fight after fight. The tournament has almost become meaningless due to most of the boxers dropping but we've seen a lot of match-ups that just wouldn't have happened had it not been for it. I think they should just wash their hands of it and put Ward and Froch in the final. Learn from the mistakes made and come back with something that's more sustainable. Ultimately the tournament has been a failure but it's provided fights we wouldn't have seen and in my opinion that can only be a positive.
i saw that coming
at this point they should just do froch vs ward with the johnson getting a shot at the winner
it's better that abraham pulled out because i don't think he would have made any difference in the tournament anymore and considering the way he got manhandled last night. i also think he should go back down to middleweight cause those big super middles will continue to eat him up.
Yeah, I have to disagree with myself and agree with Bilbo.![]()
Why does everyone lately pull out before they fight Ward?
Very true, this tournament isnt a failure, because Froch and Ward is going to be a classic, I think, and if Glen Johnson fights the winner it would be great as well.
Losing Abraham isn't a loss, imo because his last fight just showed where he stands, he's lost 2 in a row, he doesn't deserve to be near the final. Ward vs Froch is going to be great. These fights served their purpose and why should the losers fight each other twice? Who really wants to see Abraham vs Ward or Froch again?
Andre Ward has won twice, and Froch has won twice, they've won the most in the tournament, so they SHOULD fight each other, these other fights between were just a formality, if it gets this final over quicker im all for it .
Abraham says in an interview with Bild that Wegner will stay as his trainer and that he is considering going back to middleweight, because at super middle the other fighters are all bigger than him and he would always be the smaller boxer...

AA had big problems making weight at middleweight and most middleweights are at least taller than AA,so IMO its a stupid idea going back down...

"BILD: Ihr Trainer Uli Wegner hat Sie als Feigling während des Kampfes beschimpft. Sind Sie ein Feigling?"
I think that's Wegner using the word coward to describe AA during the fight, pretty harsh coming from a coach. Also the last question was whether he would take part in the fight against Andre Ward early next year and he said yes. As for going down to middle again yeah it's not like he was ever the biggest man down there, and if he had trouble making weight a year ago then he still will have trouble making weight today.
