Quite a few people on this site said Pacquiao was scared of JMM and didn't want a 2nd fight till years later or a 3rd fight. 2nd fight offered for early '05, it was turned down to fight 2 bums and Chris John for 30k after their 1st fight. 3rd fight offered this year and also turned down. JMM should know who has the bigger leverage in negotiations and who is the bigger draw, it ain't JMM. Great fighter, but he doesn't have the clout to demand 50/50 money split and OSDT.
Let's take Mayweather, he got paid something like 8 million for fighting Baldomir the lineal champ at 147 while Baldomir got paid around 1 million. Mayweather also dictated ring and glove size. You know why that is? Because Mayweather is the bigger draw and star, not Baldomir.
BTW other fighters that didn't care about those rumors of A-side meth and would have fought Pac were Bradley and Mosley, although at the time Mosley was about to fight Berto before the earthquake in Haiti put an end to that match.
I agree, Marquez shouldn't be asking for a 50/50 deal.
The thing about Mosley, he would love to have a chance against Pacquiao because he knows "anything goes".
And Bradley, good for him for not demanding it.
Though IMO, why wouldn't you want to have a fighter have OST if you have nothing to hide either, unless you are making completely unmatched paycheck and exposure.
And have something to prove.

How many times as Marquez fought above 135? Is it me or was his only foray above 135 against Mayweather? If his only loss is against Floyd Mayweather above 135, could it be that his presumed ineffectiveness above 135 has been exaggerated? Maybe it's just he faced a better fighter in Mayweather. Maybe Marquez potentially could be effective above 135.

You're right his only fight above lightweight was against Mayweather. Maybe the contracted weight shouldn't be as much of an issue, taking into account the fight night weights skel put up showing there isn't much difference between the two, and the possibility you raised that JMM's ineffectiveness above 135 may be exaggerated?
Personally this fight appeals to me, though I'd rather it at 140 as I think its a weight both fighters can make without issue and its in-between the 2 weights they're both campaigning at now. For me this fight appeals more than most other possible fights for Pacquiao right now because of the style match up and history between the two, JMM's skill hasn't been diminishing lately and I think he'd still cause Pacquiao problems. It'd certainly be interesting and if a Mayweather fight isn't made next - which IMO is highly unlikely - then I'd like to see the trilogy
