Over the last 4 years Pac's on the night weights have increased by a total of 5lbs, but in that period of time he's fought in 5 different weight classes. He weighed in at 144lbs against Morales in 06, and weighed in at 149 against Clottey. That's the lowest and the highest he's gone.

When Pacquiao and Marquez fought in 08, Pacquiao had a 4lb advantage on the night.

As for Marquez being ineffective at 135, i can only point to the fact that he's actually stopped Katsidis, Diaz and Casamayor at 135. People talk about the competitiveness of the fights as an indicator of Marquez not being solid at that weight, but i think that is more down to how he has chosen to fight. Toe to toe mainly, and it's worked because he has stopped all 3 opponents. When he ventured above 135 he fought Mayweather. Mayweather is exceptional. I'd give Marquez a great shot at anyone at 140.

However, even allowing for the interesting weight comparison, I think Pac has improved (surprised people think he hasn't. just the experience alone of slaughtering much bigger world-class fighters must have done wonders for him) and looks much more solid up in weight. I wouldn't hesitate in backing him over Marquez now.
