I don't know anything about Gesta, but I don't find Rios overly impressive to be honest. Peterson would have beaten him if he had boxed even a little bit.

i'd agree with you that brandon rios hasn't been that impressive! but he is a big lightweight with a big punch. i believe he can someday win a world title. i'd love to see him fight humberto soto who rios has been calling out recently. i think humberto soto would probably box his ears off because of his superior hand speed and nifty footwork. either way, this brandon rios/mercito gesta fight would intensify the ongoing mexico/philippines rivalry, if there is one!

I said this in another thread, but I think Rios - Soto would be similar to Margarito - Cotto in that Soto would outbox him early on, but would get worn down and stopped late. He's just too small for Rios IMO.

yeah, rios isn't very tall but he comes in huge for his fights. i don't know how he makes 135. one things for sure, the guy has a solid chin and a strong punch. i think he would toy with mercito gesta and knock his little ass out before the 4th round.

Like Rios. Mass size, tenacity and solid pressure fighter. He's far from proven on a huge level though and not ashamed to take shots to get his own in. He's hitting a nice stride now with exposure.....dont know a thing about Gesta, never heard of him. He'd do best to stay in 'the know' and wait out a known name...at least one HBO would buy. Soto would be solid go but huge step in experience for him, whole nother animal then Peterson who acted like he wanted out half way in.

before the rios/peterson scrap, i was actually thinking rios was going to get beaten probably by KO. as the fight progressed and i saw how many times peterson was tapping rios, i thought it would be a matter of time before peterson would get the KO. i heard rios was heavier than peterson by about ten pounds come fight night so that could be the reason rios didn't get hurt by peterson.

i'd still love to see brandon rios square off with either humberto soto or robert guerrero. i think both can beat rios by outboxing him but if rios thinks guerrero can't punch, he'll get the hell KO'd out of him. guerrero is mostly a boxer/puncher but when he wants to trade, he can pack a punch. either fight would be pleasing for me.

Gesta would get blown out in 1. He's an average prospect. Rios to strong for him. Twitch should find someone else to defend his honor
