Thats pretty funny that you guys look like you co-ordinated your wardrobes. Vasquez is always wearing those shades now, are his eyes still messed up? Hopefully his vision hasnt been effected, great interview.

great, great interview. i have only been a lukewarm fan of vazquez and during their trilogy + 1, i rooted for rafa marquez but you can't deny this guy was a blood and guts fighter. could be outboxed like what jhonny gonzalez did to him but sooner or later, his perseverance would show and he'd find a way to win, bloody and cut. slam dunk future hall of famer, imo.

He was really cool and friendly as usual.

It was I think because he was into it and my question werent questions he would have expected.
Which is what I was aiming for maybe next time I get the chance I'll record it on video the only reason why I'm hesitant about that is because of having to edit the video and all that...

It was, it was like we called each other to see what we were gonna wear...

Yeah I caught several glimpses of his eye area (lids, eyebrows etc.) when he would move his head and you can clearly see that it's pretty drastic the damage he sustained.
When someone else asked him about his next fight as we sat there he told them "No more I gotta walk away now that I still have my cute face"
His nose doesn't look as bad as it did the last time I seen him. But you can hear it in his voice though almost as if he has a stuffy nose.

I'm like you I started off as a huge Rafa fan but having sat ringside for 2 of the 4 fights (I was there for the 1st and 3rd fight) I quickly became an Izzy fan I'm mean when your emotionally tide to fights like that you just can't help it but admire and respect both fighters. I broke my chair from the excitement at the Home Depot Center...

Yeah that was definitely a class interview.... He sounds like a seriously decent guy and a fun interview.... And lucky you are a genuine lover of boxing and have the charisma to get him into an impromptu interview and actually get some real insight into the guy.. Probably more than most people with scheduled interviews with him....

You're welcome to drop interviews like this on us anytime you like... great read!

I really enjoyed reading that. Nice one, Mick. You are a lucky, lucky man being able to meet these fighters. I never even get the chance to go to a fight let alone actually talk to a well known fighter. That's really cool.

Thanks Diz... He really is a cool guy. This is the 3rd time I've talked to him but the 1st time I had this long of a conversation with him.
I would like to do more of these I hope I bump into someone soon.
So I can follow it up as I said I would really like to do video segment but the whole editing and all that would be time consuming.

Cheers miles... I've often said it that I am really lucky to sometimes be at the right place at the right time.

Who's who in that photo and which one is the legend.
Lame question but I just couldn't put any those stupid smiley faces in the post so you know what I mean, no offense BoxingGorilla.
I'm the one in the leather jacket with the shades...
You've never seen a Vasquez fight? You don't know what he looks like?
Wow your missing out on some great action.
Israel is to the left. He's the legend.

CutMeMick is the interviewee and Vasquez is the legend, Boxing Gorilla is trying to be funny.
I wonder if stebs was also trying to be funny...

IV: I gotta tell you Robert. I'm not a big fan of some of the press and I know your not really part of the press but this started as a conversation that's turned into a somewhat interview but you know what. I'm actually enjoying it.
RM: Thank you Israel I'm enjoying it myself.

You coulda got a slap there! hahahahaha

Great stuff mate... to be fair in my experiences with interviewing fighters they have all been sound and very approachable.

Only one who wasn't was Audley Harrison!

    Arrogant!
