Saturday night was supposed to be a lovefest for HBO. The network of champions was hoping and praying that Amir Khan could take his place as the network's next superstar and strengthen their hopes that he could one day be Manny Pacquiao's replacement.
What HBO got was Khan's biggest win to date against tough, hard hitting Marcos Maidana. Anytime you can beat a Maidana you have carved out a niche for yourself in the junior welterweight division.
At the end of the night HBO went home happy, Khan went home happy and his fans went home happy. After all, he had displayed excellent hand speed and lateral movement.
