    Yes, definitely.

It is my belief that any illegal intentional hits done in a boxing fight should not even be given a warning to discourage them from doing it in the first place. Maidana deserves the point deduction.

An elbow has no place in boxing except maybe to support the body on the way down to the canvas when one cannot use his hands.

Never a good idea to start a thread drunk, but I can live with that.

So the majority of you think that Maidana should have been docked a point and that is fair enough. I am not going to change my mind, but I can respect that my opinion is the minority one here.

I am a firm believer in democracy and believe that polls are the best way of gauging public opinion. The Saddoboxing public have spoken.

So much for my anti Khan army, eh Fenster?

    haha,

I really don't think Miles would be able to remain anonymous for more than an afternoon. His posting style and content are one of the most distinctive on all of Saddo's.

I thought the point deduction was fair.

he clearly had intentions of hitting Khan with the elbow but ended up hitting Cortez lol.

I feel it was warranted, I think Maidana could have also had points taken away plenty of other times for rabid punching.

No, not at all. I am not an unreasonable person. If most people thought that a point should have been taken then that is fair enough. I am really quite okay with that. It's cool.

Maidana deserved the deduction because he got caught. If he got away with it liike others do then fairplay. Did anyone see Ward's elbow on Bika? It was obvious retaliation and kind of brutal but he got away with it.

Of course he should have had a point deducted. In a game where violence is parts of its nature the ref has to be in charge at all times and if a boxer has so little respect for the rules and the ref he desurves to have a point off.

Maidana was lucky it did not catch him in the head and then the shit would fly.

Not even mad Mike Tyson went for the ref.

If you try to shoot someone, but accidentally miss & hit a parked car, should you just be charged with criminal damage or attempted murder. If Maidana had landed that elbow he would have been DQ'd. Simple. So a point was completely fair. A DQ would have been too much, but a point was just right, a rarity for Cortez.

Miles, we all know you would be in a right tiz if this was the other way round, arguing that Cortez had been a coward for not DQing Khan on the spot.
