I thought this was a cracking fight.

Anderson was a bit too wary of Mutley's left hook and didn't apply his usuall tactic of pressure fighting from the off (not a bad thing really)

If im honent though, I doubt very much it was as one sided as the judges had it, I had Mut 2 rounds ahead going into the 10th round and Anderson was clearly taking the 2nd half of the fight.

Kev turned 23 at the end of April so he is still really young and can certainly work on his defence in the gym.

Mutley went all out from the start and got the knockdown(it was a good couple of hooks, thats for sure) but you cant take that approach if you are expecting to go for the whole 12 rounds, he obviously under-estimated Kevs chin and heart and thought he could blast him away within 6(if he actually was expecting a long night then he was very foolish to throw power punches constantly).

A tight first round with both fighters feeling each other out, I would have given it to Kev on cleaner shots landed but Mut did land a good shot that seemed to hurt Kev a little therefore I give it even

Self explanitory, Kev goes down from a wicked two left hooks landing right on the sweet spot and does very well to get back to his feet, he showed great heart.Kev caught Mut with a shot that put him down but a tangle in the legs caused the ref to call it a slip

rnd 3 09-----10

Kev realises Mut's power but has a much better round finding some of the boxing skills that he usually shows in abundance, Mut was not hurt in this round but was certainly outboxed, he seemed to be going for the pot shots and Kev was picking him off.

rnd 4 10-----09

Mut has noticed that Kev has not fully recovered from the Knockdown as he is a little shakey when he is hit clean and he is very wary of that left hook(Kev has a cut which was cauded by an accitental headbutt), the left gets through a few times again.

rnd 5 10-----09

A bit more of the same as the last round, Kev is starting to Jab more but not getting through as often as he would like, Mut still throwing power punches and is breathing a little heavier than he should be by the end of the 5th round.

Another round for Mut as he tries to swarm his man with power shots and gets through with a few more lefts but they are not as effective as the were early on, is he tiring? Muts looking a little fatigued at the end of the round, good round for Mut though,

Mut just struggling to maintain the pace that was working so well for him so far and Kev seems to have fully recoverd from the knockdown in the 2nd. Some good stuff from both men but Kev is looking fresher by the end of the round.

rnd 8 09-----10

Kev is now showing the talent he showedagainst the tough Okine, he is a lot more alert and catching Mut with regular shots, Mut looks knackered and probably thought he would have put his man away by now, he is nearly out of steam.

rnd 9 09-----10

Clearly Kevs round, Mut is still looking fatigued but not totally out of the mix yet, Kev is starting to apply some heavy pressure mixed with a good array of shots, his stamina is looking to be his saving grace.

rnd 10 08----10 (thats the round score considering Mut had perhaps taken a knee to regroup)

Kev is looking the fresher and sharper of the two men and Mut is looking yet again to throw some big shots to try and finish it. Kev has realised now that Muts left hooks are not nearly as hard as they were earlier and drags him into a bit of a war. Kev counters a lunging Mut and has him hurt, he piles on the pressure with a shower of heavy shots and Mut is all over the place, eventually the ref has no choice but to step in and save Mutley from taking any more of these big shots. Kev wins by TKO


Thats pretty much how I summed up the fight, I was going by memory so I might have to watch the fight again and touch up that post a little.

I can understand why people thought Mut was miles ahead because he won so many of the early rounds, but imho I reckon had he had went down then got up in the 10th Kev would have finished him off either in the 10th or the 11th, he was never going to beat the guy at home with 3 home judges and a crowd baying for blood.

Wll done to Kev for showing all the tools and heart to get the job done and all the respect in the world to Mut who showed he can mix it with the top brits.
