Quite easily Amir tbh. The dominant victory over Paulie was impressive and his first 9 rounds against Maidana were almost flawless. He then proved he has heart in that fight.

Haye has had one fight this year (Harrison was not a fight) and it was against average opposition.

Froch has had one good win.

Amir Khan because he proved something to the doubters.

Haye did fight Ruiz aswell, Froch no matter if you think he beat Kessler or not he has an loss this year so hasrd for him to get it over Amir.

That was the fight he counted, he didnt count the Harrison fight.

It's ironic that most fightfans dont even think Haye was the boxer of the year in Britain, and yet he's been nominated for Sports personality of the year. I guess Amir's success came too late maybe.

I can understand Haye been nominated for the Sports Personality of the Year. He's had a massive year in terms of raising his profile, he just hasn't accomplished much in the ring.

That's the frustration with that award and it's a pretty poor barometer. I was referring to Ruiz as Haye's only fight. It can also be argued that Khan has now actually had a defining fight and Haye has not.

Haye has had defining fights, against Enzo and Mormeck, arguably Valuev. Not this year though.

I can make cases with myself that all three were not, most notably Enzo based on his performances ever since that fight. But using the same logic I can no longer class Calzaghe Lacy as defining for Joe so I'm not sure if it's fair to retrospectively change the goalposts so to speak.

Haye has definitely done little of merit this year though.

In hindsight Bilbo can you honestly say that was a defining fight? The Lee Swaby fight in truth showed enzo was a powerful chinny European standard fighter at best for me, people may argue Haye ruined him but looking closely Enzo was nowhere near world class and had already been ko.d by Lee Swaby.

Khan has fought and beaten two decent opponents, not the best in the division by any stretch, but solid opposition. Haye has fought old man Ruiz and some other bum. Froch lost to Kessler, but did come back superbly against Abraham. Froch has the better opposition, but has a loss to his name. In that sense I would have to say Khan and I have no problems with that. At 24 he is doing well all things considered.

I really do think Tim Bradley is the best fighter in the division though.
