I think for the first 4 rounds and some hairy moments with Mosley's power it will be the most competitive fight for Pac outside Mayweather and where he still makes his giant wad of cash....

After that though, Mosley is going to look super super super old, and everyone is going to say, yet another past it fighter who's tailor made for Pac... fight someone young, hungry, and dangerous...

If Mayweather outworks Mosley, Pac steamrolls him, complete with intestines getting squeezed out the ass...

Sorry, as the good old Roach says, "Mosley should retire" well, that's still correct no matter what he says now to hype this "entree" fight. Which is all it is..

Seriously, I spend all the time leading up to Pac fights defending the bastard against someone like Milmascara,,, then he pulls sh!t like this and I wonder why I wasted so much breath...

Great, he beats Mosley, who looks dangerous at certain times, and utterly useless the rest... Does nothing for me past that.. I love watching Pac fight, but this would be about 10th on my list of fights I really want him to fight...

Mosley is a shot fighter, this is a money making fight. End of discussion.

Pac has gone down in my estimations from taking this fight, very similar to Haye fighting Audley IMO.

Not ideal fight would have preferred Berto as a better challenger.

Really didn't want this fight happening. Shane dangerous for first round and then thats it - he will be on end of a mauling and will be pulled out around the 9th.

Have to admit I would be disappointed with any match up thats not Pac v Floyd though

If Pacman can KO Mosley, no matter how old Mosley looked in his past 2 fights, that will be impressive. Only Forrest got him off his feet. I can't remember Shane even being hurt on shaky legs. Mayorga was throwing bombs. DLH was hitting him with his famous left hook. Winky snap his neck for 24 rounds. And Mayweather step on the gas against him. None could finish him!!! Again, If Manny can do so, that will be IMPRESSIVE.

On the other hand, when Shane is losing with no hope, he tend to get frustrated and load up with all power punches. If he do that, Manny can take him apart. Just like Mayweather did. But that Mayweather fight will help him win this fight. He have to stay disipline and stick to the game plan.

I think people that feel the division is passing Mayweather by, I think its more or less standing still. Like I said Pacquiao taking all these fights isn't going to be good for him as he won't be as fresh when the Mayweather fight does happen.

But worse could happen, what if Mayweather fights the Bradley vs Alexander winner? or fights Andre Berto next? Then it makes Pacquiao look bad. And if Mayweather doesn't stay active he remains fresh while Pacquiao takes these gimmie fights and even takes punishment in them he doesn't have to, and going through training camps. If by the time they fight Mayweather has had two training camps and two fights and Mayweather has had 4 in the same amount of time nearing the end of his career and focus on politics, it's not going to be good for him. Pacquiao should just tell Arum to stop with the "im the guy Mayweather's ducking" fights to try to make extra money because when the fight actually happens he'll be at a disadvantage mentally and physically.

I can't wait to see the media hype this fight as competitive. The two highlights they'll show is Mosley rocking Mayweather and stopping Margarito, over and over again. And who can wait for the 24/7?

What do you mean by that? Mosley hasn't looked impressive in several years and he was godawful against a mediocre opponent in his last fight. I've become a huge Pacquiao fan over the last couple of years, but I'm very unhappy with this fight.
I mean that the posters on this forum are going to hate that this fight got made and talk more trash about Pacquiao.

After seeing Hopkins vs Pascal, (and it was a good fight) I'm sure there are a lot of people seeing Pacquiao vs Mosley a better fight than Pac vs ____, since his fight with Marquez. I would expect this fight to sell out very quickly.

I think half the problem with anyone Manny faces is that it will always be a disappointment until he faces PBF. I too wanted him to settle the score with Marquez but let's be honest, a blown up 147lb 37 year old Marquez has less of a chance than Mosley. Mosley may be old but at least he's still quick and can dig, it can still be competitive. Berto is a non starter purely down to marketing so Shane makes good sense financially.
Dan Rafael of ESPN and Kevin Iole of Yahoo are upset about this fight:

Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley a bad fight for boxing - ESPN

Arum's spin on Pacquiao-Mosley is pure garbage - Boxing - Yahoo! Sports

I found it interesting what Arum said after the Mosley-Mora fight:

"What I've read is not very supportive to make any Mosley-Pacquiao bout. Look, he's going to be 40 and he's in the lighter weights where speed is so important. He's on a show with guys -- example, 20-year-old Saul Canelo Alvarez -- old enough to be his son."

Bob Arum says Shane Mosley not likely to land Manny Pacquiao showdown - SI.com - Boxing

I agree with Taeth that Mosley will be competitive, but the difference in our opinions is that I believe this level of competition won't last very long. I see Pacquiao pulling away after four rounds and maybe stopping Mosley late by TKO. The only hope for a different outcome is that Shane just has trouble with defensive counter-punchers and that was why his performances against PBF and Mora were disappointing, but he was impressive against Margarito. Pacquiao isn't a counter-puncher so maybe Shane won't have as much trouble with him.

I see Mosely stationary on his feet,... just jittering his hands, not throwing a lot of punches.

Agreed. One thing redeemable about this fight is that at least after it Pacquiao will have cleaned out the entire welterweight division other than PBF and Berto. Whereas in the other divisions he recently moved through, he fought one fight and was out.

He should have fought Berto instead. If Arum could match him up with a no-name fighter like Clottey, why not Berto? IMO, the Berto fight would have made at least 900k PPV buys, if a no name like Clottey who the general public doesn't know can make 700k buys.

Berto is young, undefeated, fast and powerful and a 147 pounder. His defense may be leaky but it would have been new blood and would have been competitive for a few rounds.

This fight with Mosley would have been great after Pac's fight with Hatton or Cotto.

And another thing I don't buy that Berto is an unknown when Pac fought Clottey.

This could shape up to be a replay of the Pac vs. DLH fight. This isn't a fight made for casual boxing fan and not the hardcore. The casuals will disregard moselys age and tune in just to see if Manny can beat him worse than /take that punch better than Mayweather did. Roach loves a fight like this because knows that Mosely can't pull the trigger anymore. The first round or two looked impressive vs. mayweather because Floyd sat back, tried to read and feel out Shane, while Shane was the all out aggressor. Manny goes straight to work. Moselys jab isn't anything to write home about, so don't be surprised to see him blistered with counters through the fight when he flicks out a pitty pat range finder. Enough of those and mosely should go into a shell and he won't be able to keep pace with Manny and it will probably be a massacre.
Theres always the fabled bomb that can land from Shane, but like I said, he's not as quick on the draw as he used to be... and the planets would have to align just right for that to happen. i.e. He's the aggressor against a less active fighter (unlikely in this fight), Manny's moving straight forward or back without punching and not stepping to the side (a no-no since the roach reprogramming), He steps into manny at the same time manny steps into him (he should be late by about half a step, off balance and covering up), He closes his eyes and swings in an exchange and connects tarver style. (could happen). 1 out of 4 is still a chance, I guess. Nazeem better grow some more arms and get some more towels...
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

I wish shane luck he's gonna really need it. I don't knock him for loosing to floyd cause anyone he faces would, and mora makes any fight ugly, but manny is just too much for shane. But thank christ there is no stupid catchweight this time...makes the fight a whole lot more interesting.

This fight will not even be close to being remotely interesting.

Well done to pacroid for finally fighting a welter weight at 147. Major round of applause for that. But lets not forget who he's fighting.

Shane mosley was already old and then he aged a good 10 years between rounds 3 and 12 against Floyd Mayweather. He then went on to look pretty useless against sergio mora, an average fighter at best.

Before that Mosley beat the heck out of Antonio Margarito. An impressive win but was Tony's mind really on the fight that night? taking in to consideration 10 minutes earlier he'd been busted for illeagle handwraps. And let's not forget that fight was the best shane mosley had look in 5 years!

    And before that.......

    He struggled with Mayorga

    Got beat by Cotto

Narrowly edged Colazo who was injured in that fight (correct me if I'm wrong)

To be honest pacroid should stop Mosley, I can't see old man Mosley bringing anything to the table.

Another farce of a pacroid fight.

    Lap it up.
