Mayorga hasn't fought or beaten anyone world class in a long time, he's not a feared fighter, he's not in the greatest shape, and when he's been pressed he breaks down. Margarito was one of the most dangerous fighters around when he fought Cotto, he took punishment and handed it out with some sort of sick twisted happiness....and he was a cheater too so the comparisons are erroneous unless Mayorga tries to load his wraps. Furthermore Mayorga doesn't throw 100+ punches a round and he doesn't react well to being picked off by counter punches.

Cotto may not be what he used to be but he has enough in his tank to take Mayorga to school....in a very painful way.
I wasnt comparing Mayorga to Margarito, I just said there are similar pictures where Mayorga and Margaritos opponents are being battered

Also, Margarito might throw that many punches a round but he isnt as big a puncher or as strong as Mayorga. Mosley walked through Margaritos punches and had him out in the ninth but in his very next fight against Ricardo, he is extended in to the 12th and was very wary of Mayorgas power, even jumping off the floor to hold and grab at one point.

Like I said, regardless of age, Mayorga will be the strongest and hardest hitting fighter that Cotto has faced.

Mosley didn't take many punches from Margarito, everytime Margarito had him in range Mosley would clinch, push him off and unload or catch him with the overhand right

and if we wanna play the comparison game, lets not forget that Cotto outboxed Mosley for 12 rounds while Mayorga was knocked out cold in the 12th

Mayorga was actually fighting and not skirting the ring. Cotto has always struck me as a bit of a reluctant warrior. Hes ok while his opponent is backing off but a strong aggressive powerfull fighter like Mayorga will put him in that retreating mode until he finds a nice soft corner to go down on his knees in

Cotto is no Mike Tyson who basically quits after 5 rounds don't go his way , Cotto outBOXED Mosley, afterall he's in the sport of BOXING, theres a few pictures like the ones you put of Mayorga strung up on the ropes looking at the ref thanking him for stopping the slaughter for example his losses to DLH and Trinidad, better said two of his public executions

Again, the difference is, Cotto is the only one out of those names that quit while he was in his prime and his star was still rising. Tyson and Mayorga were taking fights for the money after long absences.

    Who promote Mayorga?
What is the poll on a Mayorga vs Cotto fight?

    Mayorga got my vote

Hmmmm I know I'm not the only one giving Mayorga a really good chance.
And after watching DLH/Mayorga pre-fight show special a couple of days ago I was almost convinced he was going to do damage to Oscar

Cotto isn't as fast as he thinks he is, he can't box like I thought he could, he can't jab as good as we thought, and he doesn't have as effective body punching as he should.

    That's my take on Cotto.

These are the pictures I mean that are quite similar. Both Mayorga and Margarito have their opponents cowering on the floor.
