Is Shane Mosley really that big of a deal anymore, or is he just a big name??

Mosley lost to those fighters because they were better than him, but he was always competitive in those losses. Against Mayweather he was competitive for only two rounds and still arguably lost the 1st round. Mosley showed next to nothing against Floyd. Sure Floyd is great, but even Hatton was well in the fight after 6. Floyd was making Mosley look like Baldomir towards the end. If Mosley is looking like Baldomir, then that is not a peak Mosley. Mosley had beaten Margarito 18 months previously and 18 months is a heck of a long time out for a man of that age. And even before then there were signs. Mosley was not the underdog against Margarito for no reason. He had struggled in fights prior to Margarito too. And now at 40 we are to expect Mosley to roll back the clock a decade and show us that the prior two performances were just a mirage.

You are trying to make it look less of a bad matchup than it really is with the bolded part above, but the Margarito showing was an ageing fighter rolling back the clock. Since then we have had a LONG layoff followed by two weak showings. There were signs before the layoff that Mosley was ageing too. Let's not pretend that this fight is about anything more than the money. The worlds best fighter is taking on a 40 year old who hasn't won in 3 years. Those are the facts. And that after Manny decided to fight a cheater who was banned from the sport. It doesn't make Manny look very good tbh.

Yes I agree. on paper Pac should manhandle Shane and to the active people that follows every boxing event. This Fight should not be made.

Just a few months ago Pac was ducking Shane Mosley now he's no match for him. that is sad thinking just because we didnt get the fight we wanted.

In the past I have gone against Manny because of other fighters that I like, but then we didn't know if Pac would carry the power and speed or if he would have the chin. He's carried everything and beaten everyone and barely lost a single round since then. We know exactly what Manny is all about. He is arguably still at his best, despite what Kellerman says. The same cannot be said about Mosley because aside from the Margarito roll back, he has been looking decidedly dodgy in too many fights.

The only way I see Mosley winning is if he lands a home run, hurts Manny badly enough early on or else manages to force a nasty cut. I just cannot see a way for him to go 12 hard rounds at Manny's pace without at least denting or cutting him nastily. He cannot compete for output, doesn't have the defensive smarts to slow Manny down, so he is going to hope that his power is enough to get the job done. You can't just rely on hoping for a KO punch at this level. Certainly not against Manny. But just as I keep repeating, I WANT Mosley to force my words right down my throat and have me writing an apology thread all the while bowing down at his feet in complete admiration.
