Just had my last cigarette.

I had my last cigarette 11 yrs ago...

I smoked heavy for well over 2 yrs. I only smoked Djarums.
1 to 2 packs a day everyday.

One day I just stopped. I don't even know why I stopped I just did.
Maybe I had several reasons to and I can't pin point one.
I know family and friends would comment on the smell and on several occasions I though about my health so I'm certain it was a mixture of a couple things.

I started smoking cigs in junior high, stealing em from my mom. By the time I got to high school, was smoking around a pack a day, a little less. I have quit and started back a few times, mostly due to changing a job and having smokes with people on breaks got me back. The last time I quit was about 5 years ago, havent had one since. Good luck man, just think about cancer, and shitty health when you get cravings. Get some chewing gum handy, that helps a little when your first quitting and get cravings.

Having recently read an Orwell biography the coughing up of blood and weakened lungs is something that kept on recurring. Good thing you quit, Orwell seemed to have a bit of a death wish with his total disregard for his own condition and eventually he paid the price. One lung remaining? Heck, light another one and let's swig the booze under the hospital matress! I guess cigs were not looked on like they are today. All added up though, he didn't really help himself. He even hid his condition whilst trying to complete 1984 and that likely took him beyond any point of real return. He realised it in the end.

Yeah, quit cigs all of you! They can be devastating.

Yeah, I had xrays done to make sure there wasn't any cancer and they all came back fine. It was a long time ago and I haven't experienced any related problems since, so I think I'm in the clear.

I used to live in a very Orwellian fashion, but I kept smoking for a long time after I had quit most of the other stupid things I was doing and hacking up that blood scared the shit out of me.

I basically got 18 months for handling stolen good and deception did 9 months between November 07 till August 08. Reason I got such a big sentence I had already recieved a community order years earlier for similar offence and still not completed it . I was a bit silly really!!

I work in probation, they would give you another community order now, they do not want to send anyone down unless they are proper scum.
