So sick of this. Is this kid ever going to get these leeches called "promoters" off his back and face some real competition, or is he just lovin every minutes of this gravy train he's on?

I don't understand why people want to watch Chavez Jr. fighting bums. What's the thinking behind it? "Well, his Dad was a great fighter, the son is a bit shit and constantly fights tomato cans, but on that basis we should all pay PPV to watch him". It's bloody stupid. Would I want to watch James Toney Jr. (if there is such a thing) if he is rubbish and only fights bartenders? No, of course not.

Lok at JCC Sr's record in his first 40 fights, Jr. is on the same career path. It's baby steps I guess, since he is working on new stuff with Roach and getting used to middleweight. I am a JCC Jr. fan after the Duddy fight, he could get better, so don't write him off yet.

Oh my days this is an awful fight. What the hell. Fan of Jnr or not, you can't be condoning this. Ha. I actually watched Chavez Duddy with some interest, now i'll go back to reading about Chavez's result via here or boxrec again until he steps it up. Poor showing. Even Wolak, IMO, was not gonna be a step up in competition really. I reckon I could be harder to hit than him.

i have seen a couple of Jr's fights, and the thing is he usually is in entertaining fights, but it's against mediocre opposition which isn't really saying much, if he was on the undercard i wouldn't be complaining but he's no main event attraction

Exactly. People thought JCC wouldn't do anything once he started fighting for a championship or defending the belt and what a surprise. The people who hated him hated him more when they saw him winning championships and defending them for so long.
Let's just suppose Jr. starts fighting bigger names and kept winning, do you think all the people that talked bad about him will all of a sudden start cheering for him and giving him credit?
I am surprised to hear a comment like that from you. Have you seen all JCC's accomplishments and why his name is mentioned in boxing?

i used to be one of the ones backing up Jr, check the older threads and you'll see me giving him credit, but the thing is he's not stepping it up, hell even Wolak would have been a decent fight, but the kid refuses to step up the level of opposition, he's already at the point that he has to make good on his name, and not continue to just be Chavez JR, he needs to make a name of his own (obviously don't mean it literally) as other sons of famous fighters have done (Corey Spinks, Vazquez Jr, Floyd out of Roger's shadow, etc.)

Dont get me wrong the comment was toung in cheek...JCC Sr is one of the sports ATG fighters but he has a lot of nobodies on his resume....JCC JR just IMO has not really propelled to where he should be by now....I hate when any fighter has a resume of second raters and gets so much publicity......He is young yet....I dont even think he has fully matured physically.....Funny thing is he fought Duddy who was the same/is the same all the hype for fighting and beating who? 2 losses and everyone seems to have forgotten his name....
I have no problems with guys getting respect for being a tough fighter who makes good fights and are entertaining but being entertaining and being top otch are 2 different things
