    Default Australia Floods

Now I've only just seen this, heard a few bits but didn't realise the extent of it. This is one major flood.

The area flooded is the size of France and Germany COMBINED!

Is it me or annually around Xmas time, normally just after, there is some kind of major natural disaster?

Yeah more rain is coming for them too. I feel for them.
We had some flooding around here a month ago and the mosquito population has exploded with Ross River virus is amongst us (we are in the colder southern regions).

Up north they will cop it worse than we have down here with higher temps and more breeding of insects and water born diseases aside from crop damage and then drought stricken dust land being washed away, this will break some people.

That is some horrid weather down there you are having, makes the snow we had almost pleasant.

Summer if you will pardon the pun has been a wash out here in QLD, but it puts things into perspective when you look at people who have lost everything. I just got stuck indoors çause it was raining, at least I still have my possessions and my family haven't faced that crap.

Good luck to them all, weather people are saying it may even happen again in the coming months as we continue with the wet season.

On top of it all, looters are starting to hit the homes and cars that are left behind.

Brisbane is just fekked right now, hasn't stopped raining here for about 5 days and then before that it's been off and on for weeks. I am off work right now on holiday and my wife and son are meant to be heading to Melbourne on Thurday night. The airline is actaully offering alternative flights or refunds !!

If the get away I intend looking around to see if anyone needs a hand cleaing up , the place will be a muddy mess for weeks.

Luckily mate yes, I live in Seven Hills which is aptly named, and I promise to stop bitching about being on a hill and having to swing into my garage at a weird angle !!
I helped people with sandbags back in Glasgow around '89 when a local river went, I figure the least you can do is stop and see if someone needs a helping hand.

Yeah mate, and if you think you may get caught out, stay close to a real big tree and have a red rag in your pocket for on a stick ready. Put your mobile in a little tupper wear plastic sealed container too.
