The WBO is Garbage #409

Dan Rafael pointed out on twitter that the WBO is having an INTERIM title unification match. (Ramon Garcia & Jesus Geles will unify there interim titles on Feb 5th) That's right, they have two fighters at light flyweight who are the interim world champion, and now they will meet to decide who is the undisputed INTERIM champion.

So the winner of Geles vs Garcia will have two WBO light flyweight interim titles; does that mean he will be higher ranked then WBO regular light flyweight champion, Giovani Sequra's?

We need more Interim Champions to go down this Interim unification route. We need an Interim Super Champion. I look forward to the day when the WBC promote Berto to Interim Diamond Champion to free up their regular WBC title. However, this may never happen, since the WBC renamed their Interim title the "WBC Silver Title". It is interesting to note though, that the WBC have both a Silver Champion (Chavez Jr.) and an Interim Champion (Zbik) at Middleweight that both continue to defend their titles and are never mandated to meet WBC 160 Champion Sergio Martinez.
