cant remember a fighter declining so quickly tho than bowe?
Maybe Roy Jones. In the one fight he just made history by winning the heavyweight title and was being touted as one of the best ever. In his very next fight he was getting his ass kicked by Tarver. Then he got blown away in 2 rounds, then followed another Ko defeat and travelled to Australia and got blown away in a round. That decline was very rapid considering the heights he had hit only afew months prior.
Well Roy's "Prime" lasted about 10 years, Bowe's "Prime" may have lasted 2-3 years...I think that's the point he's trying to make
No doubt about it that Jones had a longer prime but in regards to declining quickly. It isnt going to happen much quicker than " superman vs Ruiz" then "washed up" vs Tarver

yeah RJJ decline was pretty quick, i think there is a link there between him & bowe as RJJ stepped upto heavy then lost the weight to fight tarver, bowe used to balloon up then drastic weight loss when fighting. so it maybe the weight loss that took it out of them both?

Agreed. Not many fighters can move down in weight at the end of their careers and be sucessful. Byrd was awful when he lost weight. Shane Mosley vs Margarito is an example of the contrary. Floyd obviously dropped down aswel after the Oscar win at light middle and Marquez was able to beat Kats after fighting at welter but in general weight loss is not good for an old fighter. Shane has gotta do it in his next fight and he's touching 40

Roy againts Tarver 1 was like 65% of Superman Roy ( Paz, Griffin ). and yet he still won. Though Tarver convinced the crowd that he won by impressing them in the last 15 secs of every round

Roy againts Tarver 2, Glen Johnson, Green were like 20% of Superman Roy

its a shame when these great fighters get old and shot and continue fighting, imagine if RRJ had retired after the ruiz fight! his legacy would of been untouchable
