My idea for website to message people from your past...

Usually a reason you don't still have contact with people from your past??

Take my 5 year high school reunion. I went and realized why I didn't have any phone numbers of any of the people there, because they were lame asses back then. Only now they are fat balding lame asses. You can speak to them for 5 minutes and realize not a single original thought will ever come out of their head.

I mean if you want to get in touch with someone you find them on there. If they arn't on there, that usually means they dont want to be found.

you'd be opening yourself up potentially for breaches of data protection if I knew the person and published their info online - it could a stalker. I think ancestry.com or whatever it's called has an option where they ask you to view their details before being able to communicate.

More or less what the hobbit said. The idea is good but Facebook fills it already, more or less. Admitting this website would get quite known, there is for sure some people that out of curiosity would go and give it an eye and perhaps find it interesting, perhaps there are some people who do not have facebook or use it very privately that would be also interested in the idea but all in all, I think that social networking websites like facebook and in a lesser degree, myspace already answer to that need mostly.
