Why did Hatton fight a bum like Maussa and pay him $1 million, why did Khan fight the weakest of the 140 title holders Kotelnik? Why did Hatton fight Collazo? All these guys were paid inflated purses because they held a version of the world title.

Look at Maussa he got paid $1 million if he didn't hold the WBA Belt he would be lucky to get 100k and he probably did after he got beat by Hatton having a world title gives you alot of options.

Earned or not Peterson is in the mix as far as Public know. Its chronology of name and while on paper Khan trumps in local star power and career point, him having a known westernized name like Peterson is very valuable. Oh man I went there.
