Yeah i believe it, every organ can be used to optimum levels and sometimes over exerted. No reason we shouldn't be using our brains to full capacity

Funny in the 70s I did TM. But being tuned in as I thought, didnt need it because things were going great in the 80s. What with all the stress Ive been going through, I reminded myself of the past. So 3 weeks ago I started again, 1st week was hard getting the technique right. Now Im starting to Buzzz, or it could be the Hornets nest in my shed![]()

Interesting thread, i think it is probably like you suggest. under rated in everything. Im thinking more and more in boxing that it is more to do with the ability to remain in like a 'focused state' to remain in perfect control of your body, this being made even harder by the fact that you get a clought round the head every so often.
Ive been thinking about giving meditation a good go for a while because i realise my problems start when i dont 'focus' or i sort of lose interest when training, this obviously isnt good if im training this way because i will be training maybe with slight bad habits. when in the ring its not always as much as a problem because its interesting or risky if you like, so it sort of keeps my attention better if that makes sense to anyone
however i find that during sparring or in training, when im under pressure from inside the ring or maybe from somthing going on outside the ring at the time or yesterday or whatever it may be, i feel my mind can drift very easily and then ive lost focus, and my mind is sort of on two things at once. so im not under the same control of things that i could be, sometimes its only a hint of distraction, but others it can be a lot, not like im blatantly thinking about eating a cheese burger while im training but its there and it can effect things quite a bit, im thinking meditation may help me control this better, help me deal with the pressure better and maybe have some more constructive training sessions.
I think with pre fight nerves a guided meditation could be good, to take the fighter through the whole scenario would be of great benefit.
I actually believe that if you visualize something and get emotional enough about what you are visualizing, chances are you just helped supply the energy to make it come closer to being a reality.
So scrap, Does Tm have its practitioners repeat words or names?
