THIS is the main point of this thread. Unless I'm wrong, it had NOTHING to do with Haye fighting any Klitschko. The mods should make a permanent Haye/Klitschko thread so we don't have to read through all the hate from both sides every time one of the two boxers appears in a thread title.

Haye v. Povetkin is a great heavyweight fight. Povetkin turned down an opportunity to fight a Klitschko in the past, but maybe he'd be more amenable to fighting Haye. I want to see Haye get hit by a heavyweight. Povetkin has the skills to get his hands on Haye at least at some point during the fight. It'll be good. I hope it happens.

Chagaev wouldn't be a bad test though either. Is there a reason that Haye couldn't fight Chagaev in Germany? Isn't that where the Valuev fight was?

Povetkin or Chagaev would be Haye's best opponent to date.

Think it comes down to money. The Valuev fight was the best money fight at the time, so he went to Germany. Fighting Chagaev in Germany wouldn't draw much interest. In the UK, it makes alot more money at the gate, as plenty of Brits will go see Haye, much more so than Germans would go see Chagaev. I think Povetkin might be the slightly better opponent, just because he's undefeated and his record isn't too bad. Chagaev looks on the slide to me, and doesn't have the speed or power to trouble Haye IMO.

I'm more happy for Povetkin if anything. He went quiet on us after a little bluster off names like Donald, Byrd and Chambers (very decent win IMO).

Like Haye, he's career was also taking a nosedive after scrapping a Kiltschko fight (for whatever reason) so it's kinda befitting that these two are making a fight. Povetkin is a very good fighter, I'm really not sure what has been going on with him lately? In theory this could be a great fight what ever the outcome... I just hope Teddy hasn't messed with his head

Isn't Povetkin an Olympic gold medal winner?

    Yup at the 2004 Olympics.

I'm surprised he is still with Teddy Atlas. I thought the way he came out and publicly said that he wasn't ready to fight Wladimir was very strange. Must've absolutely shattered his confidence.
