Horrible that. When I split with my partner I wanted the kids to be with me as I thought (and still do and always will) that was for the best, she was never what you call a natural mother. To begin with we shared care of them but it soon fizzled out, she would find any excuse to not see them. In the end I said F*** you they are staying with me we'll sort it out in court. Months past and she didnt bother seeing them and I got a parental responsibility order (never married) and that is that. Until they are old enough to make their own choices or a court decides otherwise they will stay with me. Its been hard work along the way, what is hardest is being the one to pick up the pieces after their Mum lets them down on the day she is supposed to take them out, somehow it is my fault.

If I were you I'd have a word with your cousin. If she thinks that she will be able to waltz back into the childrens life at a more convienient time for her then think again. Provided the father doesnt make a really bad job of looking after them they will remain with him for as long as he wants them.
