Iv seen Cotto back peddle against similar fighters who put it on Miguel. If Cotto feels they are stronger than him he gives a bit.

I also believe had Mayorga had a different personality and actually knuckled down and trained hard that he could have beaten at least Trinidad and Mosley. Both he was doing very well with until he gassed late in the 1st with Trinidad (Only 4 weeks training) and around the 7th with Mosely. Oscar may always have done that, not sure.
Mayorga has stuck in training. Don King wants him to be used as a Pacquiao opponent, so sold the idea of him as Cottos first defence to Arum. He gave him a warm up fight against a similar styled fighter. He has also sent his right hand man and talent scout Al Bonnani down to Ocala to make sure that Mayorga is putting the work in. Hes also given him strong young up and coming fighters as sparring partners. Not faded old names after some cash.

Ding-ding-ding-ding!! It's finally confirmed... you ARE a hater (not to mention a total ass). Trinidad? Give me a break, loser. This was Trinidad's first fight back after a couple of years layoff and, other than a fluke "half-knockdown" early in the fight, he was never in any type of trouble against the orange-haired clown. What IS it with you and Puerto Rican fighters? Are you just bitter, because we have a greater boxing history than you?

All I ever read from you is pure, baseless shit. Ever since I've started reading your stuff on the forum, you've NEVER said anything of value, or knowledge. You always come across as a teenage bitch, with little voodoo dolls in your pink room of the fighters you hate, and stick pins in them all the time.

And for the record, as I have said to all the other De La Hoya worshippers.... Mayorga was just another case of Oscar taking advantage of someone ALREADY damaged by Tito. So don't show your ignorance YET AGAIN in matters that you know very little about.

And please do drop in after the Cotto-Mayorga fight (though not immediately after, 'cause I'll be busy celebrating Cotto's victory).... so we can shit on you all over the forum. Ok white boy?

dudes, please, let's disagree with each other but remember we're all on the same Boxing Team here at Saddo's!!!!! come on man!!! Brotherhood! sisterhood! whatever-hood!!!

As for the fight.....it would seem statistically that Cotto has the edge in age, consistency, etc.... Yet I like craziness in fighters, really, its just my taste at times, I really liked colorful guys like Mayorga....its more fun to watch them fight, see if they can live up to their words. This isnt for me atleast about Puerto Rico or Honduras (or is is Nicaragua??) I cant remember where he's from but Im routing for Mayorga. And he sure as hell has atleast a puncher's chance, the earlier the better. Should be an entertaining fight.

Mayorga will absorb painful bodyshots, and will quit in round 10.

Sure. Mayorga has punchers chance. But he throws wide punches. They say the punch you don't see coming are the one does the damage. Well. Mayorga is too slow, very predictable, and his ring IQ is too low to pull that kind of maneuver.

Im not really sure who will win, because im not sure how much Miguel Cotto has left. But really what are you on about Ross mate ? what do mean if Ricardo Mayorga had a different personality ?

His personality makes him what he is, that's why he was able to absord big punches from the likes off Vernon Forrest. Because he's gusty tough SOB.

And im sorry he'd never beat Felix Trinidad, i mean honestly you said because he had 1 decent round, he would of beat Felix Trinidad had he trained harder ? really ?

No the reason he lost is because Felix Trinidad has much better punch technique, and Ricardo Mayorga tried to trade punches with a fighter, who's stronger than him and has shorter more precise hooks. Which was never going to end well for Ricardo Mayorga who loops his punches.

I like Ricardo Mayorga but he isn't what you make him out to be, i mean outside of the two Vernon Forrest fights which he did do good in. He hasn't really done much else, i know people like to make out he was robbed against Cory Spinks.

But i've seen the fight and Ricardo Mayorga to me got outboxed, and looked very frustrated throughout and lost quite handily by atleast 3 or 4 points.

But it will be an interesting fight, Miguel Cotto isn't the same since the Antonio Margarito fight. And Ricardo Mayorga is 37 and is always hot/cold, i have no idea about Ricardo Mayorga because i haven't been following the news about the fight.

But i believe Ricardo Mayorga will try to bullrush Miguel Cotto, and do what Antonio Margarito done. But at his age and the way his lifestyle is, he surely can't keep it up for long.

And the more precise boxing of Miguel Cotto, should get him through some rough moments.

But who know's this really is a crossroad's fight and can go either way.

also on the Trinidad comment, Tito was coming back after a two year layoff and stomped on Mayorga, if it were Tito at his best at 154 he would have blasted him out faster

If Mayorga is slow how did he land this uppercut, right hand combination on Mosley? I can see a similar uppercut starting Cottos demise in this next fight. 1 minute 56 seconds in.

Obviously not fast enough to sting Mosely. He saw them coming.

Whether you're rooting for Cotto or for Mayorga, one thing is certain... it won't be a boring fight. Cotto always comes to fight and gives the fan their money's worth. Mayorga is a wild man, and he won't be playing too much defense. Does he have that "puncher's chance"? Definitely... I've been saying that from the very beginning. But Cotto, with Emanual Stewart now calling the shots, should come in with more of a game plan than he did against Pacquiao. He's a MUCH better boxer, and just needs to withstand Mayorga's early onslaughts. After that, Cotto's relentless bodywork and superior boxing skills should begin to wear down Mayorga.

One last thought, though. One thing is to root for Cotto or Mayorga... and quite another is to hate on a guy for no particular reason. Granted, hating is everyone's God-given right. But it invariably ends up making the hater look like a damn fool.
