If you have someone who (will continue) helping you with the NLP then talk about 'anchoring' (it's and NLP term) in highly useful "resource states'. Work with your helper on figuring out what your BEST STATE will be for each par of the gym practice (sparring is different from cardio work) then anchor in those states that are most useful -- using triggers that will ALWAYS be present just before you need the correct state.
For instance (just an idea, may not be the best for you): Cardio might benefit most from determination, happiness, or maybe even detachment (getting away from the pain of exertion.)
Sparring might benefit most from FOCUS, or Confidence (or confidence might be a less useful state if you become over confident -- you get the idea.)
You good link the Sparring states to entering the ring, or the bell or to "puttinjg up your guard" etc.

That is so cool.
NLP is not magic, but it can feel like magic, and it can especially SOUND like magic when you describe it to other people.
Good NLP always "tests" the results and doesn't just assume that what works for one person will work without alteration for someone else. A big element is behavioral flexibility -- having multiple responses to each person or situation.
