The Dry Bean and the Chicken are part of a bar district across from Texas A&M University called Northgate. I tried finding a photo of the whole thing but I couldn't. There are a group of four bars that were the originals and still have a very early 20th century look. Most of the bars in Northgate don't look like something out of a western film though, but whats fun about that.

I find that really interesting. As far as I know, there isn't a public place in the entire country of Canada that will allow you to bring in your own bottle of booze and drink it there. Definitely a cultural difference there...

Ultimately it is up to the owner but it is not uncommon for places that only have a beer license to allow patrons to bring in liquor, but you gotta buy the mixers from them. Pretty common for new restaurants to open before they have a beer or liquor license and will allow you to bring your own booze.
