Very interstng dialogue.

It sounded to me that Lampley was mocking Naz's use of religion more that his religion itself.

His tone suggests that Naz uses the phrase "written by Allah" to explain his wins, and goes around saying stuff like; "Allah knows how to spell Hamed." Does anyone know if this is true? I've seen Larry Merchant get upset with Holyfield for stuff like that, so maybe its an issue for this crew.

George's response is interesting. He seemed genuinely mad imo, not simply concerned about violent retaliation aimed at Lampley. This was b/f 911 so I doubt that would be the first thing to come into an American's head.

But George is deeply religious and maybe he's annoyed with Lampley's and Merchants annoyance with the overtly religious. Its interesting that this concern crossed religious disciplines.

i also can't help but think of Ali. George was positioned by the media as the anti-Ali of his day. Ali refused to go to Vietnam but George proudly waved the Flag during the Olympics, the very same Olympics that featured two Black runners saluting the flag with leather fists. As a result, he caught some “Uncle Tom” flack and had long resented the media’s incendiary framing. Ali himself would use the term with anyone who disrespected his conversion to Islam, but I don’t recall him ever saying stuff like that about Foreman.

Either way,given this history, its interesting to see Foreman’s take on the issue all these years later.

I'm suprised Lampley didn't come out with a "Take that Alah, bang bang...bang bang bang, bang bang bang!" If Muslims are gonna get offended by Lampley's comments then Naz need not make 15 Alah remarks every post fight interview. It goes with the territory.
