The thing about dumbell punching is it works the biceps more than the triceps. Plus speed comes from the first 3 inch of any movement, with the movement coming from the triceps forward, biceps for the recoil. But while holding weights in the hand your making your adductor muscles in the shoulder have a response so it will stop the nuromuscular system working as fast. With elastic it solves the problem
