U r right they are both on slide and froch wins. In primes, calzaghe wins but needs facial surgery

If they fought now Froch would batter him. Joe's been out the ring for 2 and half years, is 39 and went through a spell of drug use. Any comeback wouldn't go very well, especially against a tough, world class operator like Froch. I think he got out at the right time as he was starting to slide. Had he fought Froch after the Jones Jr fight I think Joe would have won a pretty wide UD. Prime for prime Joe wins comfortably too, his style was all wrong for Froch. But now, Froch wins.

How is Froch on the slide? He's, pretty inarguably IMO, better than ever at the moment.

Prime for Prime I think Joe would win a UD, if it happened now (even if Joe trained) Froch KO 1!

You are forgetting Joe has been dancing so is in good condition and could go at least 5 rounds.

Joe earned his retirement and has been living large a bit too long.

Calzaghe would have had the measure of Froch, whether it be prime for prime, or when it was mooted about 2.5 years ago.

Froch would have need to use his jab & box to stand any chance against Calzaghe & back in 2008, he hadn't learnt to do that.

Even then, he probably would have been too slow to do it anyway.

If we're talking about now, the fight would be a farce & should not happen anyway.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Calzaghe beat him actually, but if it ever happened it would be better for Calzaghe to have a tune up first to gauge whether he is able to still fight at a pace or not. I think even now and as impressive as Froch has been, that Calzaghe is just too good. Froch is borderline elite, but Calzaghe for me was elite.

Different leagues. Even now Calzaghe would find a way to compensate for any loss of speed/stamina.

    Calzaghe PTS.
