Btw, for those who doesn't know this yet, this fight is for the WBC Title eliminator.
About the fight, if Rubio can pass the first half unhurt, he'll force Lemieux in a situation where he's never been before. Still, I'm pretty sure it'll not happen. Lemieux is one of the best at "controlling" the ring I ever saw. Rarely I've seen an opponent that could avoid the rope and the corner for a whole round. And the guy doesn't stop no matter what you thrown at him...
I'm pretty sure this fight will end around the 7th or the 8th. But who know, after all this is boxing.

After Rubio, Gym want to send Lemieux again the winner of Chavez-Zbik (I took this from Jacques Thériault from CKAC: Lemieux frappe-t-il vraiment à la porte des grands? - CKAC Sports - Jacques Thériault).
After that, the WBC champ is Martinez. So if Lemieux win this fight, he'll have to face the champ later this year, unless I'm forgetting something.

Sergio would beat David on Sat night and twice by dinner time on Sun. Was actually liking the kid until now.

hehe I think his brashness is all due to one interview, where the guy was asking him "How would you fair against....?" questions and Lemieux would give a reason on why he thinks he can beat them. Of course he would not come out and say he would lose to them. This is the press kinda making him look like an a$$. They then create multiple headline stories making it look like he is out there trying to brag himself up.

I like this kid, got real potential for World titles. A little in-experienced still, but this should be a good yard stick of where he's at. He seems to have been brought on well, dont know if a title shot by the end of the year would be a good thing, but what the hell, he will need to make that step up at some point.
Lemieux to win with 5th rd stoppage.
Came across this article in the Winnipeg press stating he will look to move up to SMW next year:

Sounds crazy considering his reach, didnt realise weight was such an issue for him. I know he started as a LMW, must be growing into his body some if within 2 yrs he wants to be fighting at SMW.

Some points I would like to make.
Lemieux's reach or lack of, is more of a product of having narrow forward sloping shoulders than short arms.
Rubio's loss to Jantuah was 7 years ago. He was caught cold early but has shown a steady set of whiskers since. Plus he is more wiley and knows how to survive. He is currently underrated as a fighter.
I believe Lemieux will have his hands full and I would not be surprised if he gets taken into deep waters. I simply do not expect a blowout. Rubio does have a bag of tricks and he knows this is his final stand.

Should be a good main event, just like last week. Although, Lemiuex could KO Rubio early like Kofi Jantuah did to him a few years ago as CutmeMick mentioned.
Kinda hope Rubio tests him, maybe pulls the upset. Probably too shopworn and slow to do so though.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
Array
Lemiuex needs someone who can box and move to really test him. He'll blow out any B-level gate-keeper fighters who decide to stand and trade with him.
Array
If Lemiuex keeps fighting like this he is going to get brutally KO'd by a counter-punch at some point in his career.
Array
Rubio seems to be moving well too, he's got a good gameplan.
