I'll be the first to welcome you here at Saddoboxing!
I honestly think Berto is going to win pretty easily. I'm looking at a mid-round stoppage. His handspeed is going to bother Ortiz from the start and won't be able to adjust to it.

Thanks for the welcome C-lo, I should fit right in on this boxing forum, it's not my first rodeo.
In re: Berto's handspeed and power, it figures that they will be too much for Ortiz, but we shall see, Berto still hasn't fought many top ranked fighters.
BTW, Berto doesn't seem to get a lot of love from the boxing community, I imagine Ortiz will have his share fans for this fight, hoping he flattens Berto.

Welcome!! I think this fight could go either way. I do question Ortiz's heart still, and if the going gets tough i'm not sure how he will respond. It should be a very competitive fight, too close to call for me.
Berto will get educated by Ortiz whether he wins or loses. Whenever he fights a boxer-puncher, his flaws always come to the surface. Berto is way too zealous in his offensive and leaves himself open and I see Victor exploiting that with his durability and counter punching. No doubt though, it's going to be anyone's game.
And welcome to Saddo, bro.

Both of these guys seem to be absolute destroyers...if you can't fight and elect to stand right in front of them and let them whale away at you. Neither shows much class, all straight lines and chins in the air, winging away. Berto/Collazo was just terrible.
That said, it should be a very exciting fight while it lasts.
If this is the top in the 147 division, Armando Muniz should make a comeback. He can't be much more than 63.
I actually think this is a great fight. Neither guy will get the plaudits should they win, but they deserve it. I fancy Berto to take it although he won't get the credit. Aside from Floyd & Manny, there aren't many opponents you could say are significantly better.
I hope Ortiz does a number on him, but it is a step up and might be too much of an ask. Ortiz is young and hasn't really found his niche, that niche might not be at the top though. I hope he does it in this fight though, I just worry about his heart. He quit FAR too easily against Maidana.
Ortiz didn't look too good in the Lamont Peterson fight, (a draw I believe) he's going to have to look a hell of a lot better against Berto if he expects to get a 'W'. I'd like to think that Ortiz brings his 'A' game for this fight, but if not, and he loses, he's going to fall into perennial contender and/or journeyman status. This is actually a big fight for both pugs.
Berto is a better fighter who is more accomplished but I think maybe people are stressing a little to hard on the Maidana bout where Ortiz found himself in a situation he had never been in before and made some comments that came about in the heat of the moment type thing. He had shown no signs of not having heart prior or since.
I expect Berto to win but I do not believe it will be easy as many think. Ortiz is bigger then Berto as well, even Andre said he expects to have problems if he allows himself to slip even a second.
I think this will answer questions about both men, Berto being ready for the next tier and Ortiz heart.
might as well sticky this one as well![]()
Can't really call this fight. I think Berto will take him out but if Ortiz catches him I wouldn't be shocked. Berto's tendency to drop his hands after combinations just bothers me and creeps into my mind just enough so that I don't have full confidence in him. However Ieither see Berto by late stoppage or decision or Ortiz by mid round(six thru eight) stoppage. Can't envision a scenario where Ortiz gets a decision

Not that McCloskey had any chance of winning, but WTF was the doctor doing stopping the fight? I've seen far worse cuts then that.
Alright, hopefully it's time for the main event in about 10 minutes.
