Well, I didn't love that episode, but the first two were brilliant, so whatever.

My nerdism is a bit annoyed by the fact that this episode saw, by far, the most changes from the book. But, again, whatever. It wasn't anything story changing, just less word for word stuff, and sometimes people said word for word stuff that other characters said in the book. And there were more scenes that just didn't happen in the book. Again, whatever, it was bound to happen, you can't follow an 800 page book word for word with ten episodes.

No ghost, they really are having problems with the wolves.

I didn't love Littlefinger, i.e. Lord Paetyr. Same guy that played Carcetti in the Wire. He's a good actor though so maybe he'll grow on me. Important character though so hopefully I'll start to like him.

I think it is harder when you've loved the books to see things translated. I know watching Lord of the Rings there were a few changes made that were instantly noticable to anyone who had watched the books. Although to be honest I liked the changes Jackson made in that. Having the romance between Aragorn and Arwen brought out when in the books it was really barely there I think added something. So putting Arwen in the book instead of Glorfindel at the Ford for example gave her more of a back story. The alliance between elves and men at Helms Deep that never happened in the book either, I think made some sense in the film. Also taking Tom Bombadil out was definitely a good idea.

I've not read any of these books yet but I'll probably get annoyed with George RR Martin for changing things from the tv show.

For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Do you reckon it's worth reading the books Ouma, or might it spoil my enjoyment of the show with all the differences?

Also, can you change the title of this thread to Game of Thrones now rather than I am a bit of a geek, as it's always hard to remember which thread this is all in.

Nah, you need to read them. You'll understand much more even if you're just reading along with the show. Much more detail about the characters obviously. I've liked it and like I said there wasn't anything massively different last night. I guess in retrospect I was surprised at how close to the books the first two episodes were.

I just didn't love last night's episode, but it was still good.
