I don't think he's a super human being and I absolutely do not contest the excitement Ortiz brings to the ring. However, Ortiz, despite his excitement, is miles behind Mayweather in matter of skills and speed and he doesn't have enough power, in my opinion, to seriously hurt Floyd. I see it as a 12 rounds boring UD for Floyd no matter what, perhaps I am too severe but it is really my impression.

Ortiz has huge power! Even in his loss to Maidana he put him down two or three times and hes stopped virtually everyone in his career. He put Berto down at least twice, arguably and he floored Peterson as well.
Skillwise he has outboxed everyone he has foiught. You could question his heart following the Maidana loss but he's proven himself against Berto now imo.
Floyd wont have fought in 18 months by September. If he's going to fight Manny I'd want him to have at least one tough fight coming preparation for Manny Pacquiao.
Id love to see him fight Ortiz if it happens, cracking matchup.
So if by some miracle, the older, past his prime Mosley beats Pacman, Floyd should fight him again?
lol, wow. I'm a big fan of Ortiz right now but, if this fight were true, it's a super cake walk for Floyd. Ortiz brought heart, but he is no boxer. Floyd will pick him apart and counter every left hand Ortiz throws.
Not even remotely interested in that fight.
Ortiz was on the Kansas City Royals pregame last week. He was alot of fun on the show and I hope he does get a big payday.
"If there's a better chin in the world than Pryor's, it has to be on Mount Rushmore." -Pat Putnam.
If Mosley does that then I guess he has staked his claim again. The last fight left little to suggest that Mosley has the style to do anything against Floyd though.
I can't see Ortiz doing much against Floyd either. He has no jab and is prime for Floyds flush counters. It would likely be one sided and might even see Ortiz get stopped.
I think this is all to do about nothing. Every great win a fighter has doesn't mean he's ready to fight floyd. People are so starved to see someone beat floyd that we can make a case for anyone doing it. Hell with the 24/7 floyd himself was even trying to help with convincing people he'd loose. Five minutes ago most were damn near saying ortiz should hang it up . Now he can beat floyd ? I guess peterson could too since he damn near beat ortiz recently. It's funny how with boxing fans that one loss makes you garbage but one win makes you damn near the greatest of all time. Bottom line, if peterson and maidana can find a way to beat ortiz, floyd sure a shit could probably in his sleep.

If this fight comes off then I really don't see this being a very difficult fight for Mayweather. He thrives on aggressive fighters coming at him so he can counter. Ortiz is too green still.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
I dont have a problem with this fight. People were on about Pac man should be fighting Berto instead of Mosley. Ortiz just beat Berto in a great fight, and if the fight comes off, Floyd gets stick.
Would be a good warm up fight Ortiz is big and strong with a decent punch and is a southpaw like Manny.
This Ortiz purported fight is all but a temperature check.... IMO.
A second one... if counting the Spadafora check as first... There is a danger to this tho, for if this nonesense of a fight somehow find a way to buy wheels, then the "little rascal" will have earned again himself millions without a sweat, courtesy of the smoke buying public, which also effectively and cunningly sidesteps the real fight that has public clamor. We all know what that fight is, and it's not the one against Spadafora!
Interesting note tho', Uncle Jeff Mayweather just recently stated in a write-up this week that boxing nowadays is the furthest from his nephew's mind...
Another one of those "Mayweather" gospel truths I guess... the kind that runs contrary with reality all the time.
I dont get how most people thought that Berto was better for Pac than Mosley, but to some the thought of Mayweather fighting the man who beat Berto is terrible.
Also i've no idea about the authenticity of it but a quick google search suggests Roger Mayweather say's Floyd has a 'deal' with the Cowboy's stadiums owner.
Mayweather Targets Miguel Cotto, Victor Ortiz for Tune-Up Fight ...
I think it would be a fun fight to watch actually. I think Floyd would win, but i expect Ortiz to keep coming after him. So when the hell does Floyd plan on fighting Manny, Summer of 2012? Let's get it on already!!
