This Ortiz purported fight is all but a temperature check.... IMO.

A second one... if counting the Spadafora check as first... There is a danger to this tho, for if this nonesense of a fight somehow find a way to buy wheels, then the "little rascal" will have earned again himself millions without a sweat, courtesy of the smoke buying public, which also effectively and cunningly sidesteps the real fight that has public clamor. We all know what that fight is, and it's not the one against Spadafora!

Interesting note tho', Uncle Jeff Mayweather just recently stated in a write-up this week that boxing nowadays is the furthest from his nephew's mind...

Another one of those "Mayweather" gospel truths I guess... the kind that runs contrary with reality all the time.

I dont get how most people thought that Berto was better for Pac than Mosley, but to some the thought of Mayweather fighting the man who beat Berto is terrible.

Also i've no idea about the authenticity of it but a quick google search suggests Roger Mayweather say's Floyd has a 'deal' with the Cowboy's stadiums owner.

I think it would be a fun fight to watch actually. I think Floyd would win, but i expect Ortiz to keep coming after him. So when the hell does Floyd plan on fighting Manny, Summer of 2012? Let's get it on already!!

If Mayweather agreed to fight Pacquiao in the second negotiation instead of taking a vacation, then there would not have been a need for another tune-up.

to soon for ortiz I think, give the kid a couple more big fights but not against mayweather yet. Who knows tho ortiz is a tough fucker, call him a quiter for the maidana fight but he was kded three times and taking some hellacious shots. Either ortiz would manage to pull off something close to a miracle and beat floyd into submission, or the more likely scenario is floyd does his usual and wins a ud.

nope, he meant if floyd didn't ask for that f@cking test no one had asked of any fighter before. really, it's way too obvious now who is holding up this fight from happening. even most of floyd's followers are frustrated with their fighter. of course there are still those who have floyd's **** in front of their eyes who are too blind to see that. lol

Floyd needs to fight at least once a year just for the exposure and staying out of trouble.

that is one of my worries though. if people start buying this one as a floyd tune-up for the big one and it does well financially, i have this creeping feeling we'll hear another retirement announcement from him afterwards.

We need to keep perspective on taking a Ortiz, who was giving little chance to get by Berto and kinda dismissed in career. He won that fight on resurgent grit, straight shots and heart along with Berto choking and there to have glaring flaws exposed all along. Great win and deserves mega payday but this is again Floyd riding Mannys media coat tails and Floyd picking through the pieces to keep his name in the now. Ortiz is still Ortiz in style and flaws himself. I think Floyd plays with him and then thumps his own chest the loudest, again.
