For me his fights are typically a success (even if the result has upset me), but it needs Pac to show something great and/or his opponents to show something. At least against Clottey we got to see his combination punching, this was really much more akin to Barrera/Pac 2 which was his last truly stinky fight. And at least Clottey was coming in off a fairly decent showing against Cotto.
This was far more opportunistic and the fight itself quite abysmal.

I'm not sure how this gets laid at Manny's feet at all. Floyd won't fight him, Shane was, ahem, a little shy, what's he to do?
I mean who else should he have fought? What could he really have done given the way Shane was trying to go the distance?
Now was it a great night for the sport? Hell the Vasquez-Arce fight was an excellent fight and the Pavlik fight was two competent if unexciting guys. So it was a decent card anyway I thought.
Certainly not a Don King card from the early 1990's, but waddya gonna do?

The only way for it to be a success was for the fight to be an entertaining one. Either Manny wins convincingly or else Mosley puts up a solid showing to counter it, either way it needs to be a fight where two guys are looking to try to win. On that count this was a big fail. I think Clottey might have hurt Manny more than Shane did tonight.
It was just a very poor fight and when you put it into the context of the fight before....well it just looks even worse. Vasquez/Arce was awesome. The easy winner of the evening.
LOL. OUCH on the bold!
I find even the Manny we saw tonight entertaining. He wasn't anywhere close to the same vicinty as his best, but his passion was all there. My view is in part motivated by fear. This sport is the merest shell of the one I grew up with in terms of available talent. In 2-3 years who is there really? Amir Kahn? Andre Ward? Jose Benavidez? I'm afraid I am holding on to the last vestage...God do I hope I'm wrong.

Seriously, I think they could of taken mosley out of the fight in the 6th round, ran into the back and found Arce and he would of come out and made a better fight against pac.
It sucked in other words. But we all knew it would, it was just that last bit of hope that mosley had something left. Its why people keep paying to watch roy jones...just hoping to see 1 ounce of what he used to be.
All in all I think the thread is a no brainer. I guess I was just disheartened to see Mosley so timid and gunshy, but I guess we already knew that he had become like this after the last two fights. The Margarito showing really was the last hurrah. This fight was never intended to be anything more than what it was. Both fighters used their names and got a massive payday.
I don't begrudge Mosley a final payday, but just wish that he was able to go out on his shield a little more. In 12 rounds he barely opened up at all. I have never seen Mosley on his bicycle like that, round after round. I guess it shows how far he has slipped. He still has a good brain and was doing the right things to nullify Pac, but you expect that of an experienced fighter.
A Mosley at 32 against a Manny of 32 is a much better fight. As it stands Mosley at 39 against a Pac of 32 was never likely to be a success. Only the Arum and the fighters can be truly content with what we saw.
Team Pac cant be wise after the event. They gave this opportunity to Shane knowing full well the old man couldnt fight anymore. He couldnt even beat a TV reality star in his last fight. They expect him to walk straight onto Mannys punches just to make the Flip look good? Nope Shane just came to pick up his paycheque and gave a massive farewell "up yours" to the gyus who gave him this opportunity that he didnt deserve.
Shane has 2 long decades of wars behind him and wasnt going to add further miles to his clock just to make it an exciting fight. The crowd were booing and even left the arena during the fight. The whole point of teh fight for Pac was to do summat Floyd couldnt do which was stop Shane. Pac didnt do that and even had to take a count himself so in that respect it was mission accomplished for Shane. His tactics didnt suggest he ever wanted to do anymore than that and it appeared he could make Pac miss effortlessly.
Floyd must be licking his lips at the prospect but must be hoping Marquez doesnt beat him to it.
First 4 rounds were great but I found myself getting bored for the rest of it.
Yep it was like a semi exhibition fight where two friends get in the ring,(similar to how Liega Kostya looked) either Manny took it easy or Shane dissolved his power better than all of the other men Manny has messed up.
Maybe Floyd a good shot if he makes friends with him first.
Scratching head lol....really? Simply put he should have never scheduled a fight against a washed up fighter. He has to take the good with the bad and this match was horrible ! Everyone that knows boxing knew it was a bad match and Pac now has to live with the bad responses.
The same way Mayweather did (if in fact he did). I personally was completely wrong. I thought Mosley had something left in the tank against Mayweather, but Mayweather was just so good Mosley couldn't get off, but against Pacquiao, Mosley would be able to get off and maybe even stun Pacquiao. I was completely wrong.
For Team Pacquaio, Team Mosley and Bob Arum, this has been a huge financial success.
For those who paid to watch the fight, it's a matter of perception. It's a success for some Pacquiao fans just seeing him win.
For the fans who are looking to see a bloodfest or an exciting fight, I would think that this isn't a success for them. In this regard, it's not a success for me either. But they are likely to watch another Pacquiao fight because Manny is not the one who stunk the bout.

Do you even watch the fight or do you just gaze into the eyes of your Pac cabbage patch doll and.....yha you know the rest.
All Pactards to is gauge everything in comparison to Floyd.....little insecure I take it or it wouldn't have been the first thing out of your mouth. Pac loses to Floyd accept it and be done and go back to Pac Land sites
