I'm not sure how this gets laid at Manny's feet at all. Floyd won't fight him, Shane was, ahem, a little shy, what's he to do?

I mean who else should he have fought? What could he really have done given the way Shane was trying to go the distance?

Now was it a great night for the sport? Hell the Vasquez-Arce fight was an excellent fight and the Pavlik fight was two competent if unexciting guys. So it was a decent card anyway I thought.

Certainly not a Don King card from the early 1990's, but waddya gonna do?
The only way for it to be a success was for the fight to be an entertaining one. Either Manny wins convincingly or else Mosley puts up a solid showing to counter it, either way it needs to be a fight where two guys are looking to try to win. On that count this was a big fail. I think Clottey might have hurt Manny more than Shane did tonight.

It was just a very poor fight and when you put it into the context of the fight before....well it just looks even worse. Vasquez/Arce was awesome. The easy winner of the evening.
LOL. OUCH on the bold!

I find even the Manny we saw tonight entertaining. He wasn't anywhere close to the same vicinty as his best, but his passion was all there. My view is in part motivated by fear. This sport is the merest shell of the one I grew up with in terms of available talent. In 2-3 years who is there really? Amir Kahn? Andre Ward? Jose Benavidez? I'm afraid I am holding on to the last vestage...God do I hope I'm wrong.
