That had to be one the the greatest examples of Gun Shy I've ever seen. Dreadful. Was really willing Manny to smoke him in the end. Movement takes away Manny's effectiveness almost altogether though and he just couldn't get off well enough.

This fight was a lot like the 2nd Barrera fight in that the guy infront of him was making an art form out of not engaging. I am starting t ponder the thought of a third Marquez fight, just so I can see that beautiful left-uppercut come into play. No one else uses it
Also, I'm more convinced now that Floyd would beat Manny if they fought.

Not the only flogging Mosley took today, hes also taking one twitter apparently. Everyone disappointed in his performance and saying he robbed them of their money...which I dont really disagree with. All we asked was that he try, he didnt even look like he wanted to win.
Array
Yeah, Mosley is to blame for not fighting. But at the same time Pac, Roach and Arum deserve to roast in the fiery cauldrons of hell for once again making a fight with someone who hasn't really earned it. The evidence was there for us all to see, but they made the fight regardless. Arum still regards this fight as a success, hopefully he will expire soon.

the fight was disgrace! moseley made me sick when he kept touching gloes with pac and hugging him at the end. he came to pick up a check and that was it..he should retire and manny should fight a decent opponent for once in his life. floyd and manny are as bad as each other for not fighting each other
Array
I disagree. He looked like he wanted to win before he go dropped, his head was clear but check out his legs. He was wary of that straight hand and fair enough, he could have done more but what he should stand there and look to get stopped because armchair warriors didn't see blood. Tough shit.
Array
Yeah I agree, he looked game until he got dropped. It hasnt happened in such a long time, mentally the fight finished for him as soon as he hit the canvas. I just would of liked him to throw more coz I honestly believe he could of done damage, he could of still done his moving just throw a left hook occasionally or a right hand.

Missy will doubtless be pleased to know that I agree with her. A lot of you are aounding like Romans talking about how you wanted more gorings and violent deaths.
If you can force a fighter of the caliber of Mosley into a defensive shell then you generally have to be one hell of a fighter.
The fact that nobody so far has been able or willing to engage with Manny since moving up to these higher weights demonstrates just what a force he is.
I do hope we will get to see the Mayweather fight, but so far Floyd has not looked like he wants it.

mayweather already forced mosely into a defensive shell in his fight..manny just followed the blueprint like he did with hatton. when asked whether manny wants floyd..its the same answer time and time again "speak to bob arum"!
bottom line is that manny had the option to make some noise about floyd in postfight but yet again he knows he would be happy to finish his career without fighting a true slick fighter in their prime.
de la hoya - floyds leftovers, weight drained and past it
hatton - floyds leftovers and past it
cotto - catchweight, damaged goods after margocheato
clotty - picking up cheque
margarcheato - this guy cheated and should have been banned indefinatly, damaged goods.
mosely - floyds leftovers, and past it.
The only win that surprised me was cotto and manny did very well..at this catchweight. manny has great speed and great power but he knows what he needs to do to go down as a true legend.
floyd mayweather needs to grow some balls and make this fight happen in 2012 because being undefeated means nothing if you dont keep proving yourself.

I feel the same way. Mosley was for sure looking to win until he got dropped and hurt. Just like Cotto was looking to win until he got dropped and hurt. It's easy to say how one should fight Pacquiao from the safety of one's couch and not inside that ring fighting him.
If I was Mosley I would do the same thing and just go into survival mode instead of being like Hatton, laid out with doctors rushing in to the ring.

So, you are in favour of more crappy matchmaking and fighters just calling it a night after getting dropped? It isn't about what you would do, it is about what wealthy sportstars are expected to do.....perform to the best of their abilities for a paying public. What happened to trying to knock the other man down as a response or of winning further rounds to even up the fight? He didn't really attempt to do either with zero power punches and 20 jabs a round.
Many of those people in armchairs paid 50 plus dollars to see a 'fight' and to be entertained. They were given neither.
Shane was prepared but was surprised by Manny's speed and power.
We can argue over who would win Paquiao/Mayweather. I love Pacquiao but understand it could go either way. One thing we can't argue over is why this fight hasn't happened. Look at the two fighters, their approach and their character, and try to make an argument that Floyd is not the problem. Even Mayweather's most ardent fans, some being my good friends, have to admit Mayweather is a spineless, gutless, egomaniac that hasn't fought in years and that he will only fight Manny if he sees enough flaws and slippage. Manny didn't look his best and we all know that is the only reason this fight could possibly be made.
Manny is better defensively than he once was, probably a result of Beltran, Khan, Porter, et al.

I actually disagree with Missy and General Bulldog.
At least Cotto looked good while he wasn't hurt.
I mean, Cotto actually did things that made good Boxing sense for a while. Even when he was hurt and broken he had enough sense and skill to keep a good jab going.
IMO, Mosley didn't do anything different from rounds 1 to 12. He showed that with inferior athletism, you NEED to rely on you Boxing IQ and to be honest, IMO Mosley has very little.
The only thing that changed was round by round he got weaker and weaker in relation to Manny's superb conditioning.
What I mean is, the knockdown was pretty irrelevant on most accounts.
I watched it live and free on skysports 1.
And both fighters were as bad as eachother.
Manny should retire, he looked awful!
Floyd style can go on for years.
