Shane Mosley of 2000 Vs Manny or Floyd?

Here's what I see, people say that Shane went the distance with both Pacquiao and Floyd as some kind of credit. Here is the thing, when Shane fought Floyd, he could still pull the trigger and could still fire off and wasn't gunshy, Mayweather adapted his gameplan and shut down the offense Mosley was trying to do and closed all the avenues where Shane could be effective, but Mosley still kept trying but as he said after the fight, Mayweather didn't make the same mistake again. So Shane kept trying against Floyd, and showed he could still fire off shots when he saw them.

Against Pacquiao, Shane pretty much did nothing, he fired off his jab which would snap pac's head back but never followed it with anything, he started going to the body early but then quit at it. Anything Mosley did that worked he never tried to do again, seemed gunshy. Even during stretches that Pacquiao would be waiting on him, Shane didn't throw, he even caught Pacquiao off balance with a counter left hook but refused to follow it with anything. Shane was gunshy and the only time he really threw his right hand was to touch gloves with pacquiao at the end of rounds.

The Shane that fought Floyd and the Shane that fought Pacquiao are two completely different fighters. When Floyd waited on Shane, Shane threw and tried to make something happen, when Pacquiao did it, Shane, did nothing.

You know though not to sound like a PacTard it seems that every fighter Manny has been in the ring with above 135 with the exception of ZHatton who couldn't catch Pacquiao with a bullett has had the same issue and they a;ll say the same thing...You sit and wait for your chance to get off but it never seems to happen...He seems like he is there for you to go after but the second you open up he is catching you with combinations you don't see coming.....Every one of these giuys can't be wrong can they? Everyone of these guys can not have suddenly lost whatever it is they once had come round 2 of their fights with Manny unless God himself is willing it to happen and i find that hard to believe....Even some guys at lower weights said the same thing...I mean shit outside of JMM and the first Morales fight when has Manny even been tested or really made to work his ass off?

Velazquez, Larios, Morales, Solis Barrera, DLH, Margarito, Hatton, Diaz, Cotto, Clottey, Mosley....could not have all shit the bed the moment they fought Manny

Pac would beat SSM-2000 if it's toe-to-toe all out war. However, boxingwise... SSM would beat Manny with his quickness and elusiveness.

As for Shane vs Floyd. There's a reason why Floyd avoided Shane for so long.

At welterweight it would be more competitive but IMO the same results, 12 round UDs for both Pac and Floyd.

At lightweight it would be a war with Pac and the first to land gets the KO.
At lightweight it would be a KO win over Floyd or a SD win for Floyd.

The 2000 Shane Mosley was a completely different fighter to what we saw against Pacman, let's not forget that Mosley since 2002 has had 17 fights and has a 8-7-1 record with 1 NC.
Not all that flatterring is it? We saw the best of Shane Mosley in the first DLH fight, he hasn't been the same since the 2nd DLH fight. I hope he retires now as it was kinda sad watching him just trying to survive against the Pacman. Shane Mosley at Lightweight at his peak gives both Manny and Floyd one helluva time in the ring.

I think Mosley had the right kind of gameplan to fight Manny, but because of age and in particular because of what happened against Floyd he was unwilling or perhaps just unable to let the punches go. He knew he couldn't risk gassing against Manny. He neutralised Manny's output very well, but just wasn't throwing with conviction. There were long stretches of rounds where he was stepping away, but just throwing nothing. He should have been moving, but keeping Manny off with a consistent jab. There were obvious moments where Manny was jumping in and Mosley was just not willing to let the right go or follow it up with combinations. The younger Mosley was much faster and would have been much less hesitant. The size difference would have played a part and Mosley wasn't much slower than Manny himself.

Would have been a good fight and I could see body shots slowing Manny down followed by a stoppage late on.

So can easily be concluded.. lest one particular, have had surgically lost balls in between... had they gotten this fight on then, result would still have been the same --- a disgusting mockery of the sport!
