Glad you're ok!
Does having a gun really help? In that situation I think I'd just end up with them taking my gun..
Of course it works, how else do you think anyone takes/keeps power? war of words? a convincing argument? No, power is behind the trigger, the subservient at the end of the barrel. The situation would have been completely turned around. Until next time when they returned with two guns.
For leaders sure. But give someone like me a gun and I don't think I could really shoot anybody.

And despite male bravado I think most people are the same. 8 out of 10 people if put in a threatening situation would resort to pleading and begging rather than fighting back imo.
Bilbo I think that is more indicative of decades of gun prohibition in the UK. The U.S. has a tradition of gunownership dating back to its inception. By all means if you don't feel comfortable with a fire arm I would never suggest you own/carry one but in my circle of friends and family gun ownership is long standing tradition and most would be able to use a fire arm competently.
Yeah that is a good point actually. You are probably correct there.
