Spectator sport: Boxing is now, but it wasn't always. American Football used to be but since I worked overseas assignments for 18 years I got used to not following.

Playing on team sport: Football, Baseball & Basketball in that order but the order changed to Baseball & Basketball, no more football because just about everyone got seriously hurt usually by order of the oldest guy on the field. We quite our annual turkey bowl when the last guy ruptured his spleen.

Its not just my favourite sport, I'd say its an obsession. Every morning I get up an hour earlier than I need to so I can check what's going on today on here and fightnews etc. Then as soon as I finish work I do the same again. I have well over a hundred different Boxing history books (some are over 50 years old, passed down from my grandad), I get boxing News delivered every thursday morning and I used to also buy The Ring every month until I got fed up of reading previews to fights that had already been on. The family holiday has had to be cancelled and re arranged this year because we were flying on the 2nd July, not now, there is a small matter of David Haye vs Wladimir Klitschko which HAS to be watched live. It's bad enough that I can't go and see the fight in person because of this Holiday, I'm not watching it the day after too. We are now flying on the sunday night.

I hope and pray that the HW division comes back to life so that the general public start taking an interest again and boxing once again becomes a back page sport rather than a sport that gets one page a week at best. I've become a fan of David Haye, someone who if he was around in the days of Lennox, Evander and Tyson, I wouldn't have given much thought because I see him as a possible saviour of the worst HW era of all time. I respect the game of Wlad Klitschko but hate it at the same time because his safety first jab and grab style has made the general publics attitude towards boxing change to "if thats the best boxings glamour division has to offer I'm not bothered for it". And that is something I have heard a lot of people say. There is so much interest in the July 2nd fight because people want to see if Haye can get to his chin and detonate or at least be awkward enough to make Wlad change his style and fight. Not all the blame can be placed on Wlad though, the rest of the division are a disgrace (with the exception of Haye and Vitali), It's as though they have looked at the K Bros and thought "bigger is better" and just added fat to a body that should weigh 210-230lbs to make it upto 250-260lbs. But the Klitschkos are naturally huge men who are at their natural weight, which is why they are so hard to beat. The likes of Solis and Arreola (Arreola may have seen the light, only time will truly tell) could be much more serious fighters in the division if they just trained hard and ate properly. I'm not sure either would beat a Klitschko but they could certainly put up a better fight than they did if they were in real shape. I could get into lots of things that are damaging the sport I love right now, including PBF-Pac and the way every top fight is PPV, but I don't have time right now so I'll leave it with that. Rant over lol.

Yes you could say boxing is my favourite sport, I love football (soccer) too and my beloved Burnley FC do deserve a mention, but it is a country mile behind boxing. As a great man once said, What's so crazy about standing toe-to-toe with someone saying "I am"?

It's up there but will always be behind football for me.

Don't think I am into it as much as I used to be - current situations like the Pac v PBF not happening don't help.

I became a big fan in late 80s when I was around 16. The Tyson era and the Eubank-Benn-Watson era over here in the UK. Couldn't beat the excitement of a live fight when two big names were going toe to toe and you just had no idea who might win (ok with Tyson you did pre 90 but you just loved watching him destroy people).

A huge Benn fan I then became a massive Lewis fan into the 90s so that carried my interest on and made me take a wider interest, in histioric bouts too, and at one point in mid 90s I knew the records of all the major players across all the weight classes. Then of course the internet came along and I met people like you lot on the Naz forum (loved watching him fight but never really warmed to him ) which then led to here.

Now unless its shown on Sky I don't get to see many of the main men fight at moment (have seen Martinez fight just twice) so guess thats a lot to do with my interest dwindling. And also I have not been a huge fan of anyone really since Lewis retired - the sort of fan where you were on edge of your seat and worried sick they might lose. I thought Haye might be that man a couple of years ago but have gone off him since as he isn't busy enough - that might change if he does Wlad.

I don't want to be any older (!) but I can only imagine how awesome it jmust have been to have experienced the Hagler-Leonard-Duran-Hearns era first hand as an avid fight fan. I saw the later bouts between some of those guys but never appreciated what they stood for till a few years later. I'm presuming their fights from the early 80s were shown live in UK at the time ??

And then of course I missed the Ali era - but then again most of us here did
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate

Alright Dropanuke, we got the "joke" the first time.

It's a legit question, I wanted to find out if boxing was the favorite sport, of most of the fans who post here, for what it's worth, I don't believe marbles or naked twister count as sports.
