Personally I had it 87-84 Lebedev going into the final round. Lebedev won 5 rounds clearly, and Jones won 1 clearly the other 3 rounds were close enough to give to whomever smelled nicer.
RJJ showed if he still had his youth, he would have mopped the floor. He was even able to rock Lebedev once with a beautiful right hook, left hook combo. This is dangerous, because in RJJ's eyes he still felt competitive, which means he's going to search for that career close victory. Honestly if Leb would have pressed more early it would have ended early.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Looking at it again, Smoger was a bit slow to react there he was out on his feet and took a good handful of big shots which he should not have.
it honestly brings tears to my eyes

The most harmful thing that came of that is that he went rounds and saw ghosts of what he once was. He'll sell his legacy and name again to some other individual who wouldn't be fit to park his car in his prime...and again he'll take punches and get damaged.
Sorry folks but it's a slow motion train wreck and gotta refuse to think anything positive about his showing. It's fooking sad man!

That last punch seemed unnecessary.

completely agree, IMO it was a classless move by Lebedev
it only takes one punch to permanently end a man's life or to leave him like McClellan is today, Smoger was already stepping between the two when he chose to let another one loose and it was more than clear that Jones was out cold

Yeah, I don't think it was Lebedev's fault per-se, I think it was more on Smoger. I would have likely to see Lebedev hold up there, but he's in the heat of the moment and you don't stop punching until the other guy is on the mat or the ref stops it. He was just doing his job.
the rumor going around a few months ago was Roy is broke. How he spent all the money he made is beyond me, but if true, it is very sad.
He already likely is going to suffer later in life because of all the head trauma he suffered in the past 6-7 years. Without any money, he won't even be able to enjoy the few decent years he has before he is suffering physically.
When any good-great fighter gets out with their marbles relatively entact then it is a good day for a boxing fan. The best one can hope for is a guy like De La Hoya, who didn't take a ton of punishment to end his career (getting smacked around by Pac was much better for him than alot of the brutal beatings we see most very good to great fighters take at the end).
