I still say it was a relatively close fight. Hopkins deserved the win and jolly good for him, but at no point was it a schooling or anything like that. Pascal doesn't throw more than 20 punches a round, you would expect Hopkins to be able to outwork him, even if he is 46.

I think what it shows more than anything is how average Pascal really is. He can punch hard, but he is lazy and takes so much time off in a 12 round fight.

Let's see Hopkins try and do that against Dawson.

might not be able to do it against Dawson but he'll be able to do it against another name that's been floating around in Carl Froch

No, Froch is too good for him too IMO. I would like to see it actually, but Froch is clearly going to be busy for the rest of this year. Hopkins last hurrah was Pascal and was chosen because he can't fight for more than a few rounds. Pascal did exactly what he was expected to do and what Hopkins himself said he would do.

Hopkins should really retire with this win because there are much better fighters than Pascal out there. Dawson would easily beat Pascal in a rematch too.

Did you honestly see anything in Dawsons activity level (the thing that troubles Hopkins) that will force Hopkins off pace and on heels His new standing tall form could haunt him vs a sharp shooter.....and he has yet to show desire for pressure.

Dawson is looking to get bombed out by a heavy handed fight that hooks and loops shots over the top. Carrying all your power in your lead hand like that and fighting in spurts will get you killed if you cant find a guy with first shot.
Getting in past the the range of that first shot takes away 80% of his arsenal and forces him to the throw the other 20 with that uppercut. How many classic euro style fighters have been ko'd by putting themselves in the same scenario? He's got faster feet, but he likes to step away with his hands low and take strolls in between those spurts.

As, for the hopkins/pascal fight... it looked like dueling Roy Jones jr's... Pascal looked like old Roy Jones (No Energy/No confidence), while Hopkins did his impression of younger Roy and pot shotted with straight rights.... Too bad all of that left nothing for the original. Maybe they should bring Roy into Pascals camp to work on his legs and balance. It would keep Roy near the ring but away from the punches and keep Pascal from hitting the ground from flailing at the same time.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

Anyone notice after final bell sounded and all were standing around waiting, announcers talking etc. Hopkins dropped down on camera and did 5 more push ups...immediatly in the back ground Pascal went down and started doing push ups. An ironic ending to match, following his lead all night long.

He also gave him the belt back to pascal but was given it back for the photo shots.

Hopkins wants the other Canadian Bute, and not Dawson.

Dawson even grew his fade out to look even more old school . I don't buy those saying Dawson is crap just as much as I can't agree with those who say he's great . Most of the hate on Dawson came when Floyd said he was good and instead of ignoring floyd's retarded crap like we usually should people bought in . Dawsons issues are he switches trainers every five mins and he over boxes ( wow) in this sport called boxing and sad truth is most people. <br />
hate that shit. No one knows how Dawson will fare . He's only loss once and beat adamek's ass and that ain't too bad . There are small few who think Johnson will give froch problems and may win and Dawson beat his ass too. Just saying cause Dawson we can all see like Emmanuel does too is strong fast a decent boxer and could be a killer will never be cause no matter how hard he tries that just ain't him . He will always have those talents and use them to lazily out box most he faces almost all. Or he really could suck I'm high yes early on sun so I could be wrong .

Yeah but his name is "Bad" Chad Dawson, he's not bad. He needs to get mad so he can be bad, then I would be glad, its really quite sad.

He seems to not have killer instinct. He can hurt people but really doesn't go for the finish, It's almost as if he waits for his opponent to mentally concede the fight, he even fights like his opponent should know he has no chance at winning and then he does what little he can to discourage his opponent in the fight. If they don't just wilt in then he just boxes too much and wins a decision but never ever goes for the finish he just waits and waits and waits for his opponent to fall or wilt while not doing enough to pressure them to it. That's what got him beat against Pascal.

Exactly and Chad Dawson was rocked a few times, by Adrian Diaconu's straight right hand. Chad Dawson is just so damn lazy.
