No, that's not it. I mean we have 30 million people who live within 3 hours drving distance of New York City. My guess is it is partly the damage ppv has done and partly the dismal current state of the talent pool.

Talent pool is not that dismal and even if it was, there have been periods in the past that were worse than others, and boxing still drew.

In my opinion, promoters have stopped building the reputations of fighters in the areas that they come from. Adamek draws a good crowd at the Prudential Center in Newark because there is a big Polish community there. Guerrero draws fans in Maryland. Arreola packed Staples Center when he fought Vitali. But, too often we have the Bradley versus Alexander in Detroit scenarios. There are plenty of other reasons too.

I blame ticket prices in comparison to ppv, you get perfect angles and you dont have to sit next to some fucker that stands up in front of you blocking your view. Ringside seat are way too pricey for your typical boxing fan.
