Great performance Hopkins has not slipped technically just probably out put of punches, still got that great right cross.

Everybody was so gaga over him destroying Joppy in the last fight and Hopkins having a tougher time with Holmes. All I was thinking was “of course he destroyed Joppy, because Joppy stood RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM” (What a great KO thou…). Hopkins started his career at Light Heavy, no way Tito was going to walk thru him.

My favorite part of this fight was Hopkins using the $200k he got from Golden Palace for putting that painted tattoo on his body and betting it all on himself to win LOL. Classic “Nard!!!
I didn't recall Tito being such a big favorite, I wish i'd bet some money on Hopkins. I remember Trinidad looking like a bobble head doll at times during the fight, especially when Hop would triple up on his jab and follow up with a straight right. Hopkins basically put on a clinic for 12 rounds and then topped it off with the KO, I was loving it.
I'm positive that he was. I even just pulled out the Ring Magazine from the fight. Tito was a 3-1 favorite.

Love the 2:00 -3 ish mark with him using complete corners, high guard and punching in between Titos flurry. Eveything works there....side to side, inside work and shots off ropes. Just painting a freaking canvas!

Trinidad went 11 rounds with one of the best middleweights of all time (who as someone mentioned started out as a light HW). He lost his undefeated record to an ATG. He finished his career with 3 losses, all to future Hall of Famers. Before that, he amassed a fantastic record with wins over some hugely accomplished fighters. No shame in any of that.

(At least he didn't seek out undersized fighters to add to his fukking legacy).

I'm sure you are correct, like I said, I just wish i'd bet some money on it.

Trinidad fought a hell of a fight, he did the best he could do, and has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. I've never seen Hopkins look as good as he did that night, and if he hadn't brought his A + game, I feel sure Trinidad would have beat him.

I also give Tito credit for challenging himself and fighting the best. (unlike some of these gutless cherry pickers these days calling themselves all-time greats)

Tito was good fighter but he always had the size advantage over most of his foes. And if you are talking about Oscar Tito fan then only talking down Tito because he got a gift decsion against the man. If your taking about Mayweather then well lets be real he box circles around Tito to be honest.

That may be true but Tito hit with venom and if he caught Floyd he would break him down and take him out.

Thats one that always gets me, the Oscar vs Hopkins event. Oscar wasn't a Middle and didn't belong there. The he faked ko is just silly speak. Its repeated over and over but the only iffy-underweight fights I'd slag Hopkins for are that one, the Brown massacre and maybe the John d Jackson fight. Wright was a fat and dreadful lt hvy too...For Tito the Rodney Moore and Pendleton showcases. The Thiam fight was similar to Hopkins Hakker blah. Love HBOs hypocrisy on that one, I was waiting for Hopkins to slap Larry Merchant

It is customary for the opposing trainer to be present at the handwrapping and when Nazim got to Tito's prep area the wraps were already on and when Nazim asked them to do them again Trinidad Sr was extremely defensive claiming that he didn't want to go thru the process again. Nazim eventually had to insist that the hands be rewrapped in his presence because Sr's initial refusal to rewrap the hands made him suspicious. I am not accusing Tito of cheating but this is just an interesting tidbit from that fight.
