Default Pacquiao Settles Lawsuit Against Schaefer & De La Hoya

Following De La Hoya's tweeter apology to Arum and Pacquiao, Pacquiao had settled his defamation lawsuit against Schaefer and De La Hoya on confidential terms. In connection with the dismissal the following statement was issued by both.

“Richard Schaefer and Oscar de la Hoya, on behalf of themselves and Golden Boy Promotions, wish to make it crystal clear that we never intended to claim that Manny Pacquiao has used or is using any performance enhancing drugs, and further state that we do not have any evidence whatsoever of such use.

“Manny Pacquiao is one of the greatest fighters of all time, and we apologize if anyone construed our prior remarks as in any way claiming or even suggesting that Manny uses or has used performance enhancing drugs.”

Hopefully a Pacquiao vs Ortiz can be arranged after the Marquez fight.

This was dropped by Pac and Bob. Settled by Pac and Bob sounds better for them but they dropped it... this was going to a dismissal eventually. Pac just had more money to burn. Golden Boy probably didn't want to burn through money for a dismissal... no point.

Glad to see they have all the BS behind them. Now lets get to making some GB/Top Rank fights.

So I guess Pacquiao's Lawsuit against the Mayweathers is still going on?

Yes, the Lawsuit against Mayweathers is still going on. And according to Petrocelli, Pacquiao's lawyer, they may be adding to the lawsuit because of additional defamatory statements from the Mayweathers.

While the suit against Schaefer and De La Hoya was dropped, Pacquiao's suit against the Mayweathers continues, Petrocelli said.

"This is just a dismissal against the Golden Boy parties," Petrocelli said. "We may be adding to (the lawsuit) because of additional defamatory statements that the Mayweather folks have put out. All the defendants tried to have the case dismissed, claiming the case had no merit, and the court denied all those motions, so the case proceeds. We will ask for a trial date in the near future against the Mayweather parties."

Golden Boy apologizes, Manny drops it. Good outcome.

The Mayweathers continue to say stupid stuff.

Then why would Golden Boy apologized to Bob and Pacman? They should have been thankful if it was "dropped". Absolutely senseless.

The stage of the Lawsuit for the case to be dismissed has passed at the preliminary hearing where the Judge actually found was sufficient evidence and cause for the Lawsuit to proceed to trial. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed so we won't know how much money if any was involved but the way it appears is the apology is all that Pacquiao was looking for. I would suspect that along with the settlement GBP put up the Lawyers fee.

Maybe the formal public apology is part of that settlement.

This means we'll get Ortiz v. Pacquiao next year and probably Bradley v. Pacquiao next year.

In the long run it was just business and all of a sudden they want to have Ortiz fight PAC.

It's time for Mayweather to also give his public apology and fight Pac. No more running.

GBH and Top rank are already in good terms and there is no reason why Pac vs Mayweather will not push through except if Mayweather is truly afraid to face Pac.
