What am I talking about? Chris Hitchens isn't gay, at least not as far as I know. He was definitely married at one time, but I don't really know much about his personal life. Might be, but I doubt it.

Mayorga is very talented. I particularly liked the one entitled "I shagged Oscar's wife four times in one night". It was very touching and full of tenderness. The man just has a feel for language and knows how to put words together. "I love my Mum" is another very good one. It's all about how he has been made a man because of his mother. Lovely stuff indeed. "Penis mountain" is just downright weird though and he was quite likely off his head when he wrote that one. Still, all in all a top notch poet.

He IS talented. The downright weird ones are second on my list, but the touching ones that are often filled with tenderness I do prefer. About being "quite likely" off his head I have minimal doubts: he was well OUT of his head on "P M" in all likelihood. Only "Thirteen Disappointments of My Teenage Years" struck me as under-par.

To be fair to him he did write that after being stopped by Trinidad. So not only was he concussed and had red hair, but he was still finding his way as a writer. It wasn't as good as the later stuff, but there were still good moments. I particularly like the lines:
"a girl walked past, I whistled,
she turned around and looked at me,
I grabbed my crotch and gave her a wink,
but oh the rejection,
whisky and cigarettes did never hurt me like that."

Mayorga really captures the human condition with sentiments like these. Sure, it doesn't reach the maturity of his later work, but the sentiments are loud and clear. And don't forget, the man had red hair at the time.

Excellent points which I apologize for not perceiving at the time of my last post. With all due respect, there was another one he penned BEFORE he was stopped by Trinidad in which whether you contest this with me or not, he clearly wrote:

"I have trained merely an hour a day,
O Cruel Regimen! Thy sting is brutal!
Perhaps a hook to the liver is sweetest,
I won't know until the corner store carries Pinch 12 Year Scotch."

Even if I take the liberty to paraphrase here, it is insignificant in that Mayorga cared less at that time about the right hand, really. He was obsessed with the hook, especially to the body, and rather amateurishly abandoned completely any plan to use the right, except of course in sparring.

No, you can't call such a clever man a nutjob, but I do disagree with him a lot. He seems to be the ultimate sophist and will argue just for the sake of it. When it comes to politics, I actually think he can be a bit of a tool and disagree strongly. But I think his ideas on theology are never less than fascinating.

Haye did rattle Wlad there and took him out of his comfort zone. Haye was winding him up, the ref will be counting 10 over you, probably very slowly (because he is in your country). Once he knew Wlad was getting wound up, haye just carried on. I think he will get a lot of confidence from that. Haye actually had a hard on.
