i think Gatti is too old and might get hurt ,and Ricky probably just cant make weight anymore (its sorta has to have somthing to do w/ he walks around at like 180lbs)
i wanna see him fight miguel and floyd atleast

i personally think hatton should play it safe by fighting Oktay Urkal. and then see what cottos next steps are cos if hatton beats him it will put him back in the light again!
there is loads of fights out there for himOriginally Posted by Lyle
hope this isnt true
KT came to Manchester where Hatton is the star not KT, wasnt Karmnzin ( Spelling) the champ against Spinks last week? mmmmm wonder who was paid better in that fight? Do you see what im saying not alot of fighters would do that, thats one of the main reasons Calzaghe hasnt fought any superstars unlike Hatton who made a big sacrafice, and he aint a troll u little turd.Originally Posted by Hulk

it was henry cooper that said rick should only have two more fights at a charity dinner in manchester this week. he was saying that the style that rick uses wont last forever and he would'nt want rick to burn himself out, so he should have two more fights and walk with about a £4 million pension.
it's not true that rick is only going to have two fights then retire
of course the money's better in america. ticket sales for seats at the arena are a TINY fraction of a fight's revenue. i don't care if ricky's selling out arenas five times as big in manchester than he would in vegas--if he doesn't have a name in america, he's not bringing in american PPV dollars (the real money), which, just to remind you, is a massively bigger pool of money than the UK pool, given that the US has a population of 296 million and the UK has a population of 60 million.Originally Posted by skel1983

I'll tell you I am all about the here and now but the horizon is looking GREAT!!! I mean if everything comes to fruition in 2007 it will be one of the most memorable years in Boxing there are a lot of dynamics going on in the Welterweight division also we have Calzaghe coming back from injury Winky, Taylor , Valuev , Juarez, PAC MAN and so many others, I mean there are a lot of superstars hitting stride and quite a few fighters with great potential knocking on the competitive door
OH and For PRIDE OF PROVIDENCE we have MANFREDO as an Honorable mention for good things next year as well C'MON AM I THE ONLY ONE STOKED ABOUT NEXT YEAR!!!
hopefully guys like Cotto and Hatton will have hit there strides at 147 and I see Julio being were Cotto is now except with a loss already ...I mean for all intense purposes 2007 will be a good year in Welterweight division and I am patient enough to wait and am excited
Mate i see what your saying but Ricky Hatton is a bigger gate puller in the Uk, his PPV sales outwigh the ones he gets in America right now, well if thats the case why did KT come and fihgt Hatton in his own backyard when he was basically a p4p legend?? I tell you why the $5 million he was paid, did he get anywhere near that mark previously i very much doubt it.Originally Posted by shza
highly doubt the truth of him fighting only 2 more times but I do believe he will fight a max of 6 more times. Here are possible opponents:
140pounds
Corrales
Castillo
147
Gatti(although he's pencilled in for a DEC fight with Cotto)
Baldomir(again,possibly fighting PBF)
Cotto(not this year though)
PBF(doesn't seem as exciting a prospect as before but if it was@140,would be much more exciting)
Margarito(mentioned him once but after the Collazo fight, never mentioned him again)
Collazo(should give him a rematch, answer the questions asked)
Hatton does not have many options left for this year at all!! He could fight 1 of the dangerous prospects but he could get beaten ie Williams,Quintana,Clottey etc etc.
that's all true, but (1) the kt thing has limited relevance, because i don't doubt a fighter can make a lot more money in europe than in australia and (2) while ricky makes more ppv $$ in the uk than in the us NOW, it still stands to reason that he could make a whole lot more if he got respect and a name in the US.Originally Posted by skel1983
anyway, i had missed your point earlier about giving kt 70/30, so i think you're right about ricky not being all about the money. all i'm saying is that as far as the money IS concerned, there's way more potential in the US. CC.

Ok I got Allan Green and Rock Allen mixed up. But Allen isn't on the Mosley - Vargas undercard, at least according to Boxrec and fightnews.Originally Posted by frozensolid_702
